Default Broke Her In Today!!

I took my car to the local speedway today...they have a 1/8 mile there.

1st Run vs IROC
2002 Camaro Z28 VS IROC
R/T
1.060 ---------------- .907
60 2.227 --------------- 1.968
330 5.992 --------------- 5.896
1/8 9.029 --------------- 9.200
MPH 81.64 --------------- 74.80
winner. = Z28

2nd Run Vs Surburban
2002 Camaro Z28 VS 1980's Suburban ?????
R/T
.947 -------------- .641
60 2.381 -------------- 2.070
330 6.189 -------------- 5.340
1/8 9.259 -------------- 8.078
MPH 80.93 -------------- 89.32
winner. = surburban

Dont know what was in the surburban but that thing was badd ***!!..........everyone was cheering for him, and some guy asked me "what happend?"as to mock my defeat, and i looked at him and said, " what happend?, he smoked the hell out of me, thats what happend"

as i was behind him driving back, i noticed he picked up all his kids who were waiting for him very exited and happy.......i thought now thats the kind of dad i want to be when i have kids some day, burning youngsters on the track while my kids watch........ my hat is off to him............

Also the race with the iroc tought me a valuble lesson, dont underestimate the top end of the GREAT LS1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE TO SELF---- GET SOME DAMN REFLEX's MAN!!!!

Cool. You should change your post to read "loser" after the info of the second race.

I've never been to the track. I'm prolly gonna suck *** for a few runs this year.

Was it an 80's style red/white Suburban? Last year I raced one, after i crossed the 1/4 i looked in my rear view to see how far back he was but he wasn't there, looked in side mirror and he was about 2-3 cars back He traped over 100!! what a beast.

It was all white, with old school mud tires and and an engine that rumbled the ground when he gave it gas..........a monster indeed........

That is kinda slow for an 02 in the first place. My stock 02 Z28 with only 500 miles on it ran 8.6s and its an A4. You must live up north somewhere or maybe you just need a lil more time at the track and she should run faster. The times in my sig are with the 500 miles on the car.

Yea, track experience is really low, in fact that was my first time on a track period............so would you say it was my reaction time that was the cause?..........also since you owned an A4 yourself, whats the best way to start the race bone stock?, i mean some ppl have told me to start in 2nd and shift up to Drive..............my car from what i could tell is in great condition, it only has 25k on it....................

Thanks for your input...............

People are lying to you regarding the 2nd gear start and manually shifting your 4L60E.

I agree.

You cant shift better or faster then the pcm, so just let it shift itself.

Some say to hold the brake and rev the engine to about 2000rpm, the best way I have gotten the car off the line is to hold the RPMs at about 1200 and when the third yellow comes down put it to the floor and let off the brake at the same time, this will do what is called flash the converter you will get like a little bit of a stall not much but it helps, and if the track is prepped good you will see vary little wheel spin out of an A4. Just my .02

PS: also run the car in drive at the track not over drive, and NOT 2nd. The ones telling you to start off in 2nd do thay drive a Mustang, and if so thay are just trying to keep up with you!

get yourself a nice stall converter, and a good pair of slicks and launch that thing right. and let it shift itself!
