The Z28 sounds like the better deal. The check engine light on in the TA is not a good sign.

Get the Z28, stall it up and hold on

 

Go with the Z. Here's an idea though, worth a shot. When I went to buy my 99 TA, it had a check engine light on. I borrowed my friend's OBDII scanner and hooked it up while they were not too alert. AIR check valves bad, no big deal. Then I brought the light up in the bargaining. He got scared but still wanted the sale after I told him what it could be and I would have to fix myself (make up anything bad here ) and I managed to score it for $10K last year. Give it a shot and you can always walk away. But, unless you can get a fabulous deal, as in enough off to buy a rebuilt engine, get the Z.

 

i'd get the Trans Am...even tho your friend is selling the camaro...i'd still get the Trans Am...i know i'm a new member but i've rode in ta's and camaros....and i found trans am's to be a lot funner..

 

i dont like the lood of the regular firebird. i would definitely pick the camaro over the firebird. but i wouldnt pick a z28 over a ws6. so my choice is a camaro.

Well again i would like to thank you guys for all the positive responses. I actually am not getting either one of these 2 cars. Saturday i came upon a very stunning '02 Silver T/A. Absolutely perfect, even more so than the '00 Z. It has 38k miles, black leather, monsoon system, the works. The dealer has all the maintanance records on it and also ran a carfax for me. The guy at the lot wasnt the least bit pushy, and let me take the car for a drive no questions asked, unlike where the '99 T/A was.

I signed all the papers on it this evening, and after i get it insured tomorrow its all mine.
