It's contrary to what most would think. A thermostat has no bearing on the temp of the air coming into an engine. Your BSFC will improve (fuel usage). You'll also be making better use of your fuel and the energy from it instead of dumping it into your cooling system. There's a very fine line that you'd walk on this, things like oil viscocity @ the temp you want to aim for, specific gravity of your fuel, oil temp, fuel type, spark plug design and type. You can get ridiculous with it.

Well the car has been dyno tuned. But it cats on it then and not now. When I bought the car it had mac mid length's then I installed QTP LT's. Re used the 02 sensors. I'm also running NGK tr 55 plugs stock gap. I'm just curious, a lot of other m6's get better mileage. At 65 mph I'm turning 1800 rpm or so.

Thinking about having a buddy run auto tap ?? and see if he sees anything?

That's one of the dumbest statements I've ever heard.

Compare the gas mileage of a C6 Z06 to a 500hp carb'd big block. Performance does NOT mean killing your gas mileage, it's just in how things are designed.

Compare gas mileage on the 325hp engines of 1969 to the LS1. Then tell me you can't have performance AND gas mileage.

I got 28 mpg on the way down to Speed Inc. to get it dyno tuned with the mods in my sig doing 70-75 on the interstate and got 27 mpg on the way back home. Evne though I have stock gears yet, I thought that was pretty damn good for 370 rwhp.

My car is stock. I get 18-20 city and 25-27 highway.
I'll get 25 if I drive 75-80 MPH and 27 is my best driving from KC to Fort Worth around 70 MPH. I bet if I drive 60 MPH I could get 29 MPG but who can sit back and let everyone pass you!

My 02 WS6 M6 stock, got 24.5 mpg doing 70ish on the parkway for about 70% of the time and mainly open roads running 55-60ish the rest. I had about 600lbs of passengers though, not counting my weight, which is only about 115 I'm going on a 325 mile 1 way trip in a few days, hoping for 27+mpg. I'll be by myself so surely it will be better than the 24.5 last time, which was a bit dissapointing, considering my pewter car with cam, converter, and other mods got 22-23 with 1 passenger on a trip.

Ok yeah that was a dumb statement. What I meant to say was that performance will better your gas mileage, its just how you use once you have the mods that will cause the mileage to go way down haha.

ok I just put new O2 sensors in.... the ones in there to begin with looked kinda bad I guess. This is how they looked when I put them on with my LT's. Previous owner put mids on her and didn't tune it...

really!? SCHWEET!

im going to get me a lighter throttle return spring!!!

lol, james...

if the new O2s and new plugs dont fix it, letme know, and i'll stick it on the scanner when jay gets back.. we'll figure it out.

in the mean time, even though it costs more, try using a name brand good gas station, and see if it helps... you may just have bad gas... that would make it so your "tune" would be pulling timing from pinging, causing worse milage.....

What gives??? Most LS1's with m6 get much better mileage.

Thanks.
I feel your pain...i got a SS M6 for the most part stock and i get about 17-20 average highway/city. Sucks when you pay 2.90 per gallon!!!

The '75 when running gets 7mpg with the wind behind it down hill. I have a '99 yukon that gets 12-13 in town and 17.5 on the freeway. (funny thing is it really does not care how you drive it) The Camaro get 19 city and 28 highway a little less with the t-tops out.

try swapping over to exxon, texico or shell... whatever is nearby. not saying HESS is bad gas, im just saying it to rule it out.
