Default gtech

so while i was at teh track i had the gtech hooke up and had 4 runs...these were the results
i had a few runs, but for example on of my bad runs was a 13.7 and gtech showed 13.8, and then i ran a 13.5 and it showed 13.6...then i ran a 13.2 and gtech showed 13.3...and a few more runs like that...i like it a lot, i just dont know how much i can trust it w the mph...couse the 13.3 run shower @120 lol....i dunno, also cani trust the HP rating on this thing w accurate weight put in....
i have the older one i believe that was posted when they were having the 30 dollar sale on them and i bought one

thx

I think as long as you're on a level track, know the weight of your car accurately, and average several runs together the hp would be fairly accurate. Just make a few runs and see if you're getting consistent values.

I just got to play with mine yesterday....and must say launching is harder than I thought. I dont know how much power I'm putting down. But 1st gear is almost useless I spin all the way up to bout 5k and second finally catches. I need to practice or get nittos. Anyway I manged to slouch out a 0-60 of 5.41sec and a 13.9 @110 Yea I know I need some skillz..! I'll get it..eventually. I havent tried to measure horsepower yet.

Wow! I didn't realize these things were so accurate. I'll have to blow the dust off my old one and baseline the TA!

before my H/C i could only get 5.7sec 0-60, with launching off idle.....
after the H/C my best was 5.4sec spinning all threw 1st gear....

i found it hard to launch the car with street tires.....

since then i put the TQarm and rear sway... ill have to try it again.

Then I guess I'm pretty good.
0-60mph 5.55 sec on street tires 2000 feet elevation.

as posted before, these are precise tools, not acurate ones...
you cant really take the hp figures ect ect ect as gosple, however if you always use the same test road then what you CAN take to the bank is the CHANGE in figures when you do a mod...
if it said you had 300 hp then you put in a lid and it said you have 307 hp, you can bet that you actually gained 7 hp or if it says you dropped a tenth then you did...
but dont say i have 340 rwhp just cause it says you do....

These things are very accurate on times and actual mph. The reason yours said 120mph vs what the track reader showed is because the meter is telling you actual speed through the traps and not an avg of the last 60ft like the track timers do. You really were going 120mph at the 1/4mi marker.

I have had the beltronics gtimer and the pro gtech and the gtech is not near as accurate as the beltronics. My beltronics is dead on at the track every time.

Hp will be lower due to wind and spinning and actually having to push the car down the raod. You can consider it accurate road hp.

btw.. my 0-60 are usually 4.1 to 4.4 on nittos drag radials. Thats why I love these things. I have gotten really good a launching. I can blow the tires off if i want. use to net some shitty 0-60's as well. Best 60' I got was w/ nitrous and it was a 2.8 and that was w/ nitrous

sorry bud,
but i'm gonna have to throw a flag on this one...

would you have us believe that his track mph of 110 was actually an average of 100mph to 120 mph and that , this mph was changed in 60 ft?!!??!! absolutly no chance....20 mph change in 60 ft? maybe if he was in a jet car but not in a 13 sec f-body... as a matter of fact 13 sec f-bodys dont do 120mph in the 1/4... if you had said 112 then maybe... but 120... no chance...

what are you guys setting your "pitch factor" at on the g-tech? i have mine right between the recommendations for the ford taurus (3.0) and the BMW M3 (2.0), but i dont really know what i should set it at. i know it has to do with how stiff your suspension is. example) if your car squats hard, it interperates some of the gravitational g's into its accelerometer reading and needs to compensate for it by knowing the "pitch factor"

i have one of the new ones (g-tech pro SS), and the best run i was ever able to get out of it was 13.1 @ 114mph w/ a 2.23 60' on 245/50 street tires before i had my 12 bolt and all i had was LT's and true duals.
