Default Problem areas on 98-00 LS1 Camaro's

I owned a 02 WS6 and am finally ready to get back into an F-body. I owned the WS6 for about 6 months before it was totaled. Since I didn't have it long I didn't really experience any problems with it, other than the wreck. My question is this, what are some possible problem areas that I should be aware of when i'm looking for my next car. I am looking for a 98-00 Z28 or SS with a M6. The only problem area that i'm aware of is the 10 bolt rearend...other than that I will need some inside info from the experts. Thanks in advance.

The only real difference with the older ones is the lack of an LS6 intake manifold stock and the less reliable oil pumps. The exhaust manifolds were a little better on the newer cars as well but since we replace those anyway it doesn't really matter, right?

Fixed typos.

basically if you are going to mod the car...the differences are negligable...check out jrp's sticky at the top and read through the differences between years..

Oh yeah, all F-body rotors are not so good. I always forget because mine are stock and I rarely use them hard so I forget. They don't stop our relatively heavy cars all that quickly and they warp very easily. Slow quickly from triple digits once and you may develop a nice steering wheel shake when you brake. I'm used to the shaking now.

Another good point. I forget about the minor non performance things. I've replaced the driver's window motor once and my pass window motor is out as we speak.

You'll probably have to work on the headlight motor. I suggest buying the metal gear from Tbyrne, it's a lifetime fix, instead of turning the plastic gear 180 degrees.

i hear about lots of 98-00 m6 cars having transmission problems, though i dont know probably mainly because there earlier models and typically have higher mileage.
ive never heard of the 98-00 having a weaker oil pump though..
they lack the ls6 intake and ls6 clutch.
window motors suck of course.
some say the 01-02 cam is better than the 98-00 cam..i like mine just fine, ive seen faster 98-00 stock cars than stock 01-02 cars dispite these changes.
as for my 2000,
1x factory cat.
2x headlight motors
2x window motors
1x 10bolt
1x transmission
1x knock sensor

choose the car based on its condition rather then the year..
