Ditch the air pump entirely. It's very easy to do.

I've thought about getting rid of the air pump, but I'm still not sure what effect the codes would have on performance especially the O2 code. Any info an that would also be welcome. Thanks for all of the help guys.

While you're at it, I'd ditch the EGR too and do all the free mods. Those items gone will make working on your car easier, and get rid of some weight off the front. And they both are super easy. Of course you'll need to block off the EGR and make some plates to block off the air at the manifolds.

Also, at the very least you will want to get a scan tool of some sort. The more you mod your car, the more it will come in handy. I personally like HPtuners, (you can scan and program with it) but if I were you I would at least own ATAP. If you had a scan tool and were trying to diagnose a faulty O2, you could swap the left and right O2's. Then if the code follows the O2 you know it's bad.

As stated above. You would really be doing yourself a favor by purchasing HPTuners. I'm sure there will be many things your gonna want to do in the future and most of the time the only way to capatilize on your mods is to accompany them with a change to the PCM. FYI, I think you times are definately a little slow, but when you combine all the little things like elevation, mil and what not, I think you have your answer. Small things can create big problems. Heres your first round of mods: Torque Converter, drag radials and HP tuners. Enjoy and welcome!

Your times are waaaaaay off; especially your MPH. What is the exact code your are getting? Bad O2's will have a dramatic effect on performance so you might have to replace them depending on the actual code. For comparison my 98 A4 TA ran 13.27@ 105 mph bone stock.

I'm not sure about the code for the O2. The other codes are P0410, P0412, P0418. I got those after I cleared everthing but no O2. It didn't pop back up and the guy said that all the systems were ready. ??????????

I've been here about a year. Went from an 13.83 to 11.90 (she's got 11.70's in her) Cam only, shitty tune (long story), stock susp. and chassis. Hopefully a good tune and SFC's, LCA's, and TA can get me 11.40's. My goal is to run 11.0's or 11 teens on motor.

Holy crap another odessa person.

Can some of you guys post up the elevations at which you are running these times and track conditions?

Our track here is not of the highest quality, and our elevation is closer to 2800 rather than 2000. For our area low 14's to high 13's seems to be the norm for the stocker A4 LS1 T/A's and camaros... but yeah your '99 does seem a tade bit slow.

What color is your car? WS.6?

I drive an '02 Silver T/A (non WS.6) w/ an auto and has a "Dirty Style Racing" sticker in the back window. If you ever see me out feel free to holler at me.

And you are right, this site is great... alot of helpful people here more than willing to share some knowledge. Good luck!!

hey that's pretty cool. didn't think I'd see anyone from odessa here. guess I should check my email more often to see when people are posting on the thread. the car is pewter, non-WS.6 w/unpolished camaro rims If you see me feel free to say hi yourself. Me and my wife cruise sometimes on friday or saturday night. I'll be sure and say hi if I happen to see ya.
