well the pewter all the way...it's an 01 w/ls6 has warrenty but that doesn't relaly matter prolly if you mod it considerably...and pewter is much easier to keep clean not to mention it looks amazing

a one owner car is nice...you basically can tell how it's been driven or taken care of...

I say look underneath and see which one has a dry pinion seal, if any. j/k

Really though, are both private or dealer sales? Private sales usually have the advantage of maintenance history and that type of stuff. Who knows who had the car before you and what they may have done or not done to it.

Pewter Camaro's are good looking though.

I'm not a big fan of pewter but it's the better choice. I mean, it may have more miles and a thousand more stones but that gets cancled out with the one owner and the warranty. The warranty is a plus. And he's right about negotiating. It never hurts to ask. Be firm and you may just get it at 16.
Of course you also have to remember that it's you who will be driving it, not us. So it's what you think you'll want to drive for awhile. Flip a quarter. JK

I would also go with the 99 due too lower miles and 1K cheaper. Test drive both and look the car over.

I looked at a few before I found mine. Alot of the ones I saw had been in some type of accident. Open all the doors, trunk, hood and go over every inch of the car top to bottom. Then test drive both.

Dont jump on the 1st one. I looked for almost 3 months and found mine. It is a 02 Z-28 Maroon A4 T/T with 14,480 miles for $16,900. They wanted 20,900 and it took a few days to get it down.

id say black. its more sleek. pewter looks like every other car. nothing reaches out and gets you about pewter. yeah, youd get the LS6 stuff, but really, you could do a lid and cat back for that thousand and get that power back and then some. id say do the 99. black is just bad ***, but keep it clean. but whatever you want should be the difference maker, not our opinions, both are solid, theres no major pento like defect with either one so its up to you.

Both are awesome colors. Even though the 99 has less miles, id go with the 01. Had only 1 owner, and also has an extended warranty. Hell, i think it is awesome when you don't have to pay for **** when it breaks down. Just my 2 cents

I voted 2001. Normally I'd go with lower miles and I love black, but pewter is a nice color and is much easier to keep looking clean. The 01-02 cars have a few things over the older cars, plus the warranty is nice to have.

Way to go IMO. This it what I wanted to say too.
And the SLP option on the car too if I'm right it comes with some hardcore shocks (Bilstein, 1LE, ...) what would cost you approx. 1000$ if you want them in and installed.
Just check out those cars and stay away from ex-track cars, boosted juiced cars...they might have been put back to stock take somebody with you who speaks LS1 language.

It's all about low mileage for me -- the '99 would be my choice considering the slight difference in price. Either one will work, however.

I would look at JRPs sticky on the stock difference between the years, especially if you're gonna keep the engine stock for now (minus bolt-ons).

Both are private sellers and neither of them have ever been modded, Full Service records come with both. The 2001 is in slightly better condition because it was always parked int he garage, the black one is stil great but has 2 small scratches and 1 small dent in the door.

Also, these prices have already been negotiated as low as the owners will go. The black one wanted 16,700 and the pewter one wanted 17,900

take the pewter one, it's in better condition. You may not notice the little stuff now, but you will after you own it a bit. and little stuff adds up. but, again, all depends on your preferences.

The Black would be my choice. I think it looks better and the lower mileage is a plus. The $2000 you save could go straight to mods if you want.

Edit0 I just saw the post about the scratches etc...can they buff out? The dent can be fixed with no problem. The main thing would be mileage for me...if those are the only problems with the black SS i'd still get it.

the only difference i see is the mileage maybe making you want to get the 99, the 99 u will have to worry about fixing things sooner. the 01 came with a lot of LS6 parts, ok so it got the intake but i think buying a car i wouldnt let a 300 dollar intake be the deciding factor. look at the 99 to the 01

99...
-28000 miles if only has that many miles on it in the last 6 years maybe at times it was sitting for too long, then you have to worry about problems from it not being driven, could have gunked up internals (doubt it but its possible, 2 owners and sometimes people dont care about their cars)
-the 99 doesnt have the new clutch hydraulics, they will become a bitch on you sooner or later, plus i think its a weaker clutch
-99 does have the LS1 intake, EGR valve, different wheels i think, prob less standard upgrades as the 01....

the list goes on, it all depends what you want in/out of the car. whats your fav color? black is tough to keep really clean, pewter likes to hide light swirls easier. with the 01 u still have warranty and its not liek that is a lot of miles for an 01 anyway. that theft feature on the 01 is nice to, esp if u live in an area of high auto theft. 16 is too much for a 99 IMO

the main thing for me would be to look at the records and see if each car had regular maint. also, what are u looking at this car for? to mod and go fast or just to drive around on a nice day?

my vote is for the 01, but then again what does it count for? you are the one cutting the check in the end, you have to be happy with YOUR choice, although i understand you arent prob asking us to make your decision just give you information on which way to go, which is what we are here for

and no, your not going to break anything, its possible but these cars arent shitty by any means, unless you just dont know how to drive and take care of a car

2001 models supposedly came with better quality oil pumps over the previous years.
