a buddy of mine had a very similar problem after he installed his headers, the car acted like it had no fuel and would die, it turned out the had sucked something into his mafs and the reading was so screwed up the car wouldnt even run. also check your fuel rails to see if there is fuel in them if so its probably not your fuel pump. Good luck

I've never let my gauge get below "E" before, but I did have a fuel pump go out on me in a Toyota truck before, and it just died out as I was driving. That truck had about 160k miles though. Either way, I wouldn't let the tank get below 1/4 full, it keeps that pump cool. Did you find out yet, anyways?

well they finally got a chance to look at it today. Apparently there was a short in the main harness, and when they started movin stuff around it went to an open. so now its only a matter of finding the right wire... is this a common thing or the first u guys have heard of it?

not a common thing at all... althought anything with wires can have a short happen, it is not a common thing to have your wiring harness go bad... thats why they cost so much to replace...
glad to hear they are fixing her for free...

I'm SOOOO glad to hear that. A good service department makes all the differance. The bad apples can ruin your entire week.
Congrats on getting your ride back.
Oh, and I've never heard of that problem before either.

Awesome news man! Glad to hear they fixed the problem under WARRANTY and that you're getting your baby back. BTW, nice choice going with an Onyx Black '02 M6 Z28 (see sig).
Good luck and have a lot of fun with that thing,
Mike
