I think the WS9 means it's a V8. The Trans Am package has another RPO code in addition to the WS9 but all TA's have the WS9 code like the Formulas do. Remember a Trans Am is just a Formula with some body pieces so it's going to have many of the same RPO codes as the Formula.

WS9 = WS9 MODEL CONVERSION, FORMULA

Meaning: GM took an already manufactured Formula and turned it into a Trans Am (someone correct me if I am wrong).

I have chrome 16x8 T/A wheels on my 2001 Formula. They came stock as part of the 75th Aniversary package.

If what I have are pollished instead of chrome, they are really shiney and must be clear coated. I think they are chrome because they are brighter/shinier than the clear-coated polished WS6 Wheels (I could be wrong though).

Clear coated

I have mine up for sale in the 'parts for sale' area ---->

But, they are definately clear coated and with mine the clear coat is starting to flake off. Doesn't matter cuz I just ordered Torque Thrust IIs. Those are polished aluminum as well.

All WS6's had polished aluminum wheels, the regular TA's either have chrome or painted wheels, ActionJack is right WS9 is the conversion code from a formula to a TA, its part of what makes it a TA, its authentic dont worry

ws9 is on most if not all formulas and T/As. the code means that it gets the V8 hardware such as engine, rad, rear, driveshaft, etc. then the T/A has the Y82 code, and of course the WS6 has WS6

WS6 got 17/9.5 with 275/40/17 tires, some were polished aluminum/clear 5 spoke, some were the salad shooter ones(rare and ugly). base T/As got 16/9 with 245/45/16 tires, some were polished aluminum/clear and some were flat silver.

Not that it matters much, but the base TA's wheels, if not painted, were chrome, not polished aluminum, and the ws6's were polished aluminum, not crome (5 spoke's anyway) i do believe the 3 spoke salad shooters on the rarer ws6's were chrome tho

Pretty sure they're only 16x8s on the base trans am, which is why the tire is so much thinner.
