Default Idle Problems?

I'm not sure but I believe the idle on my 98 SS is kind of high, never remember it being that high. It idles at 1400, I do have a lazy o2 that acts up and throws a code sometimes but I'm replacing that soon, does that have anything to do with it or is that normal? Does the car run any different when it's throwing the code with a o2 sensor problem? It doesn't seem to, but I'm just wondering if it will hurt anything.

yeah that's high. My car (A4) will idle at about 750 in park or neutral and about 600 in drive. I'm not sure what an M6 idles at but I'm sure it's below 1400.

Try disconecting the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. Connect it again. Then crank it up. See if it idles correctly after that.

IAC motor could be possibile..... they are about $100 from the dealer and only take about 5 mins to replace (super easy job). Could also be a vacuum leak somewhere.

But I'd fix the O2 sensor first, clear the codes, disconnect the battery for a bit, then do the idle relearn and see where your at.
