How much power loss on a high milage LS1

Mine dynoed 386rwhp 365rwtq with mods in sig. I don't even have a UD pulley nor a ported throttle body...However the heads have a slight bit of port work to the intake runners. But even then I'm making about the same numbers as most with my cam.

i dont think you should lose much if any! Providing it has had good regular maintenance. Mine feels like it runs stronger with every new mile! granted ive only got 60k on the clock, but I hope it holds on forever!

The key to an engine making good power even with high mileage on it, is that the owner keeps it clean inside. This means he has used a good oil, a good fuel system cleaner, and this way the rings don't get carboned up and the compression is still good. You've heard me talk about it before, but the product called Auto-rx is very good for making sure your rings are sealing up good. Even if you've done 3k oil changes all along, in some cases the rings can still get carboned up, so using this product is one of the best ways to remove this buildup (short of pulling the engine apart). And using a good fuel system treatment periodically will also keep carbon out of the combustion chamber too. I prefer to use small doses of fuel cleaner with every single fill up, as opposed to just putting in bigger "shock" doses.

Seafoam also supposedly does a good job of cleaning the engine, although I'm not so sure it will clean quite as thoroughly. With Auto-rx you put it in your oil and run it for 1500 miles or so, and it uses safe natural esters do slowly clean the engine, but it does it very thoroughly during this time. I prefer Auto-rx over anything else.

In all honestly I have not felt any power loss, even with the amount of miles I have on the car. Oils and fluids have been replaced regularly and I have even run a couple of bottles of GM top engine cleaner and a couple more of auto rx as preventative measures.

i will say that since ive owned my car i feel like it gets stronger day by day.
ive ran top end cleaners through as well as a new snap on fuel system cleaner that actually hooks up to your fuel rail and pulls gas out and mixes a fliud with it and then your car runs off of this machine, pretty nifty and car ran noticably smoother and more powerfull, and it was free of course because the shop i work at just got the machine.... =D
anyway, changin all the fluids and filters when needed is the main way you are going to keep your car running tip-top.
as long as a car is well maintained there should be no major drop in power over time as the mileage of the car increases.
but to say that there should be NO power loss over times seems a bit unrealistic being as a motor will inevitably wear over time - and thats as sure as the sun will rise.

Is there anything you can do to prolong life of the bottom end if, say, you have the heads off. I figure if you can get that close to the pistons and rings and such that you could do something to help out without actually rebuilding the bottom. I figure when i eventually do a heads/cam swap iwould want to look into doing more than just looking at all that **** under there.
