Need some help fast
I'm replacing the alternator on my car and the small red wire that goes into the plug broke off inside the plug, so there's not any wire to splice it back together with. Is there a way to get the plug completely apart or do I need to go to the dealer and get a new plug?

Yes, there is a way to do it but it can be time consuming. It's also MUCH easier to do off the car if you can get the plug to a well lit area. They make special tools for removing the metal prongs from the connector but a straight pin can do the job. The metal prongs have pieces sticking out of them, kind of like fins. When the prong is first inserted into the plug, the fins slide past a ridge in the plug and spring out. This locks them in place. To remove the prong, you need to move the fin away from the connector body so that it can slide back out. I've used straight pins, bailing wire, very tiny flatblade screwdrivers and other such tools to do this. It make take a little time, but it can be done.
Good luck
