Check out JRP's FAQ He has been kind enough to compile practically all the information that you will ever need to know about F-bodies in one helpful location. https://ls1tech.com/forums/new-ls1-owners-newbie-tech/213148-jrp-s-faq-commonly-asked-questions.html

Read this thread and you'll have all the info you need...

Just don't listen to the salesman or anyone from the dealership unless they say "ls1tech"

The above link explains what to check on an SS, but thought I'd answer about the color...

I think it was 1999 that was the only year they made 4th-gen Camaros in Hugger Orange. In 2000, 2001, and 2002, they used Sunset Orange Metallic.

most import thing to look for is the rpo codes.....Y2Y, and WU8.....
WU8= ss appearance package
Y2Y= slp processing code
you can have a WU8 and no Y2Y
means its an ss but had no slp ooptions
when u have the Y2Y there should be another sticker in one of the doors that has the slp options list in it......
and if you still have ??s.. write down the vin#and email slp with the vin.. thats how i found out what my build number of my car was, and what slp options came on it, cause my slp sticker had been removed

True for LS1 cars. For LT1 cars (1996,1997) look for RPO code R7T.
