im about to buy an air lid real soon and i was looking at the slp air lid, what do you guys think about it? does it line up fine and all? is there any other lid that yall would recommend

Nice car. "Yall", good ole Texas. I'm in FL, so don't worry, I say it too. I just bought a 2001 T/A WS-6 A4; I'm curious to see what everyone says about a lid b/c I'm looking for one myself. From what I've read, SLP is the choice for most people. Have you taken your car to the track?

I had an SLP lid. No problems. I believe that GMHTP or some other mag did a comparo on all these lids a couple of months ago. In regards to horses they were all about the same increase (about 10 horses).

 

GMHTP did one a long time ago-They all ball park the same power, however SLP did come out on top-i haven't seen any other comparisons however

 

All the lids are the same as far as performance goes. I have an SLP lid (it's my second one [on two cars]), and I'm very happy with it. My opinion, I think it looks the nicest, and they're all about the same price.

All the lids are just about the same. Just go with the one that looks best to you. I chose Whisper because it says "LS1" across the lid and I thought that looked pretty nice.

 

A lid is a lid is a lid thats what I was told when asking this question. My two choices were between the SLP and MTI clear, I went for the MTI because I thought it looked really nice.

 

MTI works for me.

 

I would try and pick one up used and save some money. There all the same as far as making power so unless ascetics are that important to you, you would be better off buying one used.

 

the two main factors to consider when choosing a lid:

#1 ... most cosmetically appealing
#2 ... price

as for fitment issues... i think it all depends on each individual lid. some people have had different results using the same type of lid.

My suggestion to you would be... search for pics of different lids and pics of members engine bays. there are some pretty good looking lids here at Ls1tech... and that can give u an idea as to what you want to do with your engine bay and thus what lid you should go for...My .02

Someone needs to sell the SLP lid on Amazon.com... I have like $100 in gift certs just sitting there and nothing I want to buy from there *sigh*

 

I had no problems with my whisper lid.

 

I'm still undecided if I should go with an SLP lid or the MTI, but you can't go wrong freeing up around 10 horses for only $100 .

 

i went with the SLP lid, no problems at all, i personally dont like clear lids

 

can i see a picture of the whisper lid that says ls1 on in it? or where can i find one and how much?
