Default Help 2000 T/A

I went to some dealership near by and I found a 2000 T/A with ram air 27,000 miles and a salvaged title for 10K cash. engine bay is dirty but can be cleaned and interior is dirty as well and is the air lid suppose to say Ram Air? Is this a good deal? or should I just keep looking.?

whats the details on why the car was issue the salvaged title? if its nothing major and the car has a good frame, engine, and tranny i'd put an offer on it, wouldnt pay 10k, and use it as a project car. any kinda resale is shot.

He said that the rear left body had gotten hit but it has been replaced and from what i saw it didnt even look as if anything had happened to it. the only real thing I pretty much saw was the back left tail light looked scratch. and its was pretty much just realy dirty. had a manual tranny also wasnt able to try it out though no time. but i did see the engine and interior. engine sounds good well with 27000 it should. but ya i need to try it out n try to lower the price if i can. any more suggestions would be great.

I also noticed that the air lid does not say Pontiac Ram Air is it suppose to? cuz it has the ram air hood or is it just a replaced hood?

if its not there, the hood there is an aftermarket addon

well in the state of Ga to retain a salvaged title a cars damage has to be more than 75% of its blue book value and the car has to be returned to an acceptable performance and safety standard as mandated by the state..i know cause i had to do this with my first camaro as it was totaled...we rebuilt the car with used and new parts had the frame pulled and repaired and inspected by the state..it was a grueling process and took forever..it was also inspected by the state..in this case i would say have a experienced mechanic/body shop check the unibody out and everything else mechanically...

just for the record when my toher 2k ta got totaled earlier this year, non ws6, my insurance listed tha salvage title value at 12,000, and it doesnt take much damage to total it i got it on the front end with only nose damage and a shot radiator and it was totaled parts for that car are just too expensive at the moment i guess, well the front frame brace was bent to the side too but everything was straight behind the FRONT of the front tire, the only visable damage was before the tire, engine ran and everything...engine light comes on but uh...with no radiator, one woudl kind of hope so...

umm yeah it doesnt mean that the car is a total loss it just means that the accident cause more than 75% of teh value of the car and it doesnt take long to rack up some money buying parts to fix the car...and to answer your question..yes any title that has been issued as a salvaged vehicle should have a pink slip of paper with it showing the owner that the car was inspected by a state certified inspector and has passed all safety and mechanical compliances for that particular state..i know this as my car was totaled out when i was rearended but there was nothing mechanically wrong with it..just a bad hatch rear bumper bent fram rail and bad quarter panel..all that was fixed and the frame was pulled and it ran just like it did before..so it doesnt mean your gettin a junker but i would be careful and be VERY cautious and ask LOTS of question..or just look around for another deal as mentioned before

wronge..... ANY car that rides on ANY street has to get a safety inspection, but there is so special SALVAGE title inspection. it just has to pass the same safety inspection ANY other car has..... (while your state may be special) that is how it is in
NC
VA
CA
SC
i have opened salvage titles in all of those states... NONE of them inspected the frame, none inspected for rust(or other signs of flood damage) none looked for anything more then a regular safty inspection. (and emmisions in CA)

in NC that means the lights work, the horn blows ,and the tires aint bald...
i could take a car on its last leg with VISABLE body and frame damage, and they would not care.

oh yeh, and ALL safety inspection slips are PINK

my point is this.... if it has a salvage title, then it should be suspect... if they are willing to have a body specialist(of your choosing) inspect the frame, and have a good mechanic (of your choosing) inspect the rest, then i might work with them... but i still would not pay 10k..
