2002 z28

my brother in law has a 02 z28 m6, he said that it has a ls6 intake in it, that it came from gm like that and not a dealer option is this true?

Yes 01-02's came with the LS6 intake from the factory.

LS6 not LS1.... it may also have an LS6 block?

Along with a host of other goodies that the 00 and earlier models didn't get. Some of them are:ZO6 clutch and hydraulics if M6, stronger rodbolts, LS6 oilpump, no EGR, started using the 28.8 lb injectors again, and of course the LS6 intake, and possibilty of an LS6 block which was already stated. That's all off the top of my head.....

in 01 they also got a different cam from the vortec truck series too. I have heard about some 02's running out of the LS1 block and using the LS6, but there is no concrete proof I have found. Just only rumors. Can anyone give proof so I can relay this to others who asks this ford/chevy guy.

its a fact, 1/4 of 2002 cars have the ls6 bock... you can identify it from the blocks part number stamp....

Yes but werent the 02 models slightly detuned cause they were getting "too fast"? I heard the best year to get one is the 01 models.

Bullshit. I havent heard that from any of the LS1/F-Body sites I am on. My old roomies 02 WS6 auto w/ a lid and cutout dynoed 331rwhp, you think that was detuned?
