Of course it's a pain in the *** to swap the entire motor out of a car. Also, it might be just as cheap just to buy an LS1. If you look, you can find an LS1 Z28 or Formy for $6,500 - $7,500. You figure an LS1 + Tranny will run you $4,000, then you got labor, electronics, and it adds up fast. Unless you can get an LS1 engine for SUPER cheap, sell your V6, use the money that you were going to spend on the swap, and just buy an LS1 vehicle.

You can find a B4C or reg Z28 for $6000-$7000 Why waste all that time swapping engines/tranny! And I hate to sound like some on here but come on, if you gotta lie to your insurance co. about the engine, thats pretty lame. Not trying to preach, but if you can't afford a fbody buy something you can afford. I know this thread was about if you should spend the time swapping or not, but it turned into something different!

I used to have a 2000 v6 camaro, now i have a 2002 Z28 and let me tell you that it is worth being broke over. The LS1 is so much more fun to drive so I would say it is definitely worth it. I would just try to buy the whole damn car, like they said a 98 ls1 you can find for around 8,000. I will say this, I dont envy anyone doing the work for that kind of engine swap!!

Hey about the insurance thing I never said anything about not affording insurance. I started this thread about a swap nothing else. I have a V6 but want a V8 so if I were to get one insurance is will be high but thats the price you have to pay with these cars and Im very aware of that.
