Well if you want to reduce the insurance cost, go with collector car insurance, the company I'm thinking of (sorry can't recall the name, just Google collector car insurance)has no mileage restrictions, only restriction is you can't use it as a commuter car (aka daily driver) cost was $300/yr for an 02 WS6
Since you said it's a secondary vehicle you should be able to get the insurance no problem
One other restriction, you have to be 25 or over, so for the OP spend the next 6 months looking for the perfect LS1

I'm with State Farm, 19, Z28 is in my name and I pay $210 per month. I have one ticket and one accident on record. Both of those events occured when I was 17, so they get cleared in May when I turn 20.

guys.... its pointless to compare insurance rates, no one has the same driving record, credit rating, location etc etc etc.....
If you want a good rate you are just going to have to shop around and dont settle for a 1k deductible!

Just wanted to see if you guys knew of a good(cheap ) company to get insurance through.
Thanks,

dont even think about a $1000 deductible if you are financing your car. most financial institutions wont let you set it that high, and if they find out they will penalize you. my friend got nailed for $500 for trying that.

There are a few things you can do to potentially lower your costs.
But the most important thing is still making sure you are properly covered. Keep in mind that if you are sued and lose you could end up saying bye bye to your house and other personal property if you have some chincy 25/50/25 coverage. Everyone's situation varies, and if you have very few assets, you don't need to have half a million dollars in liability. So consider your situation when setting your limits.
Easy discounts include have multiple line coverage(home/auto, etc.) You also should consider adding renters insurance if you rent. The additional cost is often offset by the discount on your auto policy. GPA and mutliple vehicle discounts, etc...don't just trust that your agent has done all of this for you.
You can also lower your premium by rasing your portion of the risk, so get rid of the 250 deductible and raise it to 500, etc. Whatever you are comfortable with and can afford.
Don't skimp on uninsured/underinsured motorists insurance.
Shop around, certain companies cater to certain types of people. Geico, Progressive, and the like market to price shoppers and mostly auto insurance. Companies like Farmers target families and homeowners. These companies rates reflect this.
