Hey ImportPatrolWS6, how'd you get 220 rwhp out of that RS? My wife's '02 Y87 is rate only 205- flywheel.

I agree with the others who said wait till your done with school and then get what you want once you have a job. I know it's hard to wait, but 600/month is not enough to pay off a car and still be able to live.

When I was 17 I (that being my parents) bought me my first car, a 1970 SS Chevelle. Man, was I lucky. I drove it my last year and a half of high school, and retired it while I went to college. I'm 23 now and have a full time job, and about 4 months ago I bought a 2000 SS Camaro. Dude, buy the LS1. Old cars are the bee's knees...they demand respect, but if you want one for a daily driver, it's just a bad call. Not to mention insurance will kill you on 2 cars with that kinda income.

The car will be payed in cash, no loan, and I'm surviving right now with NO job. The problem isn't really money right now.. I was just wondering what it's like to have 2 cars in college. I've decided to go LS1 anyways, because of reliablilty.

Buy my LS1 and save the rest of the unused money for mods or spending money!
Seriously buy my car!

I am a sophmore in college and I kinda went through your situation. I had a V6 Camaro, it blew up so I had no option in keeping it but I honestly wouldn't want one around now that I have my SS. Their gas mileage really isn't all that great, (at least mine wasn't) and I enjoy driving so much more. Not even fast driving, just day to day stuff because the LS1 is a better engine. I know your car isn't a Camaro, but I would get rid of the Mustang and get an LS1 of some sort. I think it is worth it.

dont get an LS1, you live in florida the only issue you would have with an older car is that if it breaks down. keep the V6 mustang and then get an old mustang, camaro or nova like you said. get it completely taken appart and made reliable before you go to school, then before you go to school, sell the V6 mustang you have and use that money to fix up the body and the interior

i would love to be able to drive around a 64 nova with a decent small block (possibly LS1) in it as a daily driver. id even drive a 67 mustang fastback 302 4 speed daily. it would be so much cooler than an LS1

with the correct gearing, transmission and cam it wouldnt be that bad......

think about it though, LS1 car (yeah fast and look good) you see them lots of places, and a nice 02 WS6 expecialy 6 speed will be at least 15k for a nice one... buy a nice solid starter and put a ton of money in it... you will have something unique. i wish i could have been around in the days when there were tons of classic camaros/mustangs/chevelles/novas/fairlaines/cudas/chargers etc running around on the street. only times you basicly ever see these cars is now at car shows, never drive, fully restored. yeah thats cool but id love to see someone daily driving those cars instead...

Thank you for encouraging me, when the time comes next year... I'll be looking for an older car. However, I'll probably change my mind 10000x times before then so we'll see what I end up with

Sounds like ya need to build a pro-touring car. You can have that '68 Camaro handle, accelerate and stop better than a 4th gen (with the right mods of course), and be very reliable. It's all in the parts you choose.
