Default How does this sound? (vid)

Is it just me or does this GTO sound FRIGGING awesome.

It's running LT's and a chambered exhaust from Stainless Works.

IMO it's one of the best sounding LS1 clips I've heard.

They do an Fbody chambered exhaust also:

Fbody 4.5MB *.mov

The Fbody is only running the Cat back NOT LT's, but I don't reckon it sounds anywhere near as good as the GTO.

Do you reckon, it's the headers making the difference, or the fact that the GTO has duals?

Any other comments welcome.

Cheers.

I wish I could make a sound clip of my car for you. It sounds better than that. However, that gto does sound good. It's a little raspy, but then again I have duals.

I agree, the GTO sounds pretty good- only a tad raspy. That Z28 sounded nice as well.

Its a bit of both. The LT's help as well as the duals on the GT0. Thats why mustangs sounds so good on stock manfolds and flowmasters, due to the duals. It gives it such a nice rumble. The GTO sounds sick!

I love my exhaust and think it sounds just aso good or better than that gto.

Only thing I think would sound a little better on my car would have been if I went with some sweet thunder (as 777 has) mufflers....but I ran a little but low on funds...but overall im very happy.
Only negatives is that you have to watch for cops and it made my car vibrate in the hatch and some place around my shifter that I cant figure out. Ive got the hatch vibration fixed but still a tiny noise coming from the shifter area.

At wot the sound is amazing. Meaner than most any car ive heard. I dont envy mustangs in the least now. It puts my friends fox to shame and he has a 2.5 x and flowmaster 2 chambers.

Yea I love the sound of true duals on a catless x-pipe and long tubes. Im havin the same problems as you though, even only with mac mids, gutted cats, and slp lm. My hatch has started to rattle and I get vibrations at lower rpms, but man I can complain too much because the sound is amazing. It has such a nice rumble down low and a crusing speeds and at WOT it sounds plain evil!

With mine it had something to do with the interior trim in the back. It is built real cheap and is held in with those plastic screws that you give a half turn to tighten. I checked all of them and made sure everything was lined up right.
It is starting to come back now though....so I think I might have to rig up some self tapping screws or something.

Does anyone else with before axle dumps get a weird sound in the interior at low rpm...around 2000 rpm when accelrating?
It sounds like the exhaust is getting trapped under the car in some kind of weird air pocket or something. When this happens it is what causes the hatch to vibrate....and eventually causes it to vibrate at normal cruising, something about those pulses makes the interior loosen in the hatch area....kind of like the bass from a system im guessing.

Is their any way to correct this....or is it unavoidable with the dumps?
I dont have them turned down. Just like a 3 inch long peice of pipe on each that is slash cut. The exhaust might be turned down like 10-15 degrees at most.

I get crazy vibrations in the hatch. It was more noticable when I put the poly trans mount in. I need poly motor mounts as well, but that will probably just make it worse I'll wait till I get all of my other stuff together.

I'm thinking the GMMG will sound like that with some LT's and either Y or ORY..

Shifter noise might be because of the short stick. A lot of us have expierienced that. just a thought.

Man the only way ive seen to deaden the vibrations from any true dual system dumped at the rear axle is to pull up the carpet and lay down some additional sound deadening material. There is a sponsor (or used to be a sponsor) here I think named B-Quiet and they do good sound deadening material at a price much lower than dynomat. I used the stuff in my Z28 when i had my system before putting it in my navigator and it worked really well so laying some type of sound deadening material would be the best way to go IMO.
