Bad to start in 2nd gear?

Bad to start in 2nd gear? I guess I never really thought about it. sometimes I just get sick of having to shift so quickly from 1st to 2nd at a stop sign or light that I just start out in 2nd. Is this bad or damaging to anything? thanks
