F-L-O-R-I-D-A ... H-E-A-T ... F-T-R-A = S-H-O-R-T L-I-F-E E-X-P-E-C-T-A-N-C-Y O-N T-H-E M-O-T-O-R.

Speaking from experience ... $13,200 later!!! So listen to who you want. Mine's coming off tomorrow because I have a new motor and it's STILL running hot!!!!! The FTRA is the ONLY variable left!!!

FTRA BLOCKS the radiator ... just look ... no ******* brainer!!!

I have FTRA and the same time I purchased it I got a 160* Thermostat and HP Tuners. I have my fans kick on earlier and I have not had any problems.

No problems with my SLP Ram air, but on my old car I did find a piece of plastic wedged up between the radiator and ram air duct once, It was so far up there I could not see it from the bottom of the car, I only knew it was there because I disconnected the ram air duct once. The funny thing is when I'm driving and accidenty run over plastic bags or paper on the highway I'm always looking in my rearview mirror to help me determine if I only ran over the plastic or if the plastic got caught on my exhaust or suspension, I obviously missed it one time.

speaking from 80-95 degree weather with the A/C on in Wash DC bumper to bumper traffic with SSRA....no heating issues. hitting 130mph for long stretches in the Nevada desert...no problem with SSRA. so far, about 50k with the SSRA.

Had heat problems with my old FTRA when I had the T/A, now I have the SSRA on the Z28 with no heat problems. As far how how much they gain in mph, I went from 106 to 111.7 with just a stall and the SSRA change. I doubt the stall gained 5 mph in the quarter.

FTRA came off today when I got my car back from the shop. Engine's running 20* cooler now. Can't wait 'til we have some more 80*+ days ... to see the real difference in traffic ... when it's hot outside ... with the AC on.

Installed the B&M 28,000 GVW tranny cooler in place of the 19,000 GVW .... tranny temp's running 25* cooler, as well. Heat transfer between the tranny and the motor prob had a lot to do with the high temps to begin with.

It blocks it exactly like the FTRA does.

The SSRA is different from these two, in that it angles away from the radiator, allowing air to pass into the radiator.

I was pretty much sold on the FTRA after I saw this, I need my engine to last till 120k w/out rebuild so I'm definitely going to rethink that. Not to steal the thread but would a 160 thermostat have any undesirable effects? All of a sudden I want to get one with my ram air, even if it is SSRA, just to be on the safe side.

Also, is SSRA known to perform a well as FTRA at the track and with gas mileage increases.
