Insurance?
I switched from progressive direct to an insurance agent. Progressive went from ~$1500 to ~$1000 for the SAME EXACT POLICY.
I still switched though and went with Mendota, now I have a lot more coverage (they offer aftermarket part coverage) for an even lower price.
This is all through an agent btw they must get some good deals to get me the prices I couldn't get going directly to the insurance company.

First of all, the insurance difference isn't that great. The difference between my 03 Grand AM and 02 Z28 was only about $250 a year.

full coverage (500/500 deductible)
$150 a month
22, male in CA

The difference changes as you get older. When I as 18 the difference was ~2000 a year, when I was 21 the difference was 500 a year, 22 was ~250 a year and now it is ~100 a year.
Oh yeah, 20 it was still at ~1500 a year.
The difference was between a 1999 Z28 and a 1999 Ford Taurus. I averaged the above numbers to the closets 50 mark.
now it is $149 a month 1 speeding ticket and 1 failure to obey traffic device ticket (I just didn't see the no left turn sign painted on the road in the middle of a rain storm sheesh).

When I was in Colorado though my insurance with the same company shot up to $690 a month for full coverage, with my Saab 900s only costing me $1000 a year (only liability though).
It can vary with difference cars but not all of us see this because we live in different regions of the country and in different areas (urban, suburban, rural)

i have state farm good credit nothing on my driving record, a v6 2000 convertible camaro with a 2000/2000 dollar deductible with a 302.90 pymnt yes you read right 302.90 a month payment....but no discounts and its because im on my own policy and im under 25...im 20 years old and moved out and got my own place..got in a fight with my mom last year 
and decided to be a smart *** and got off her insurance and boy when i bought the new car they screwed me in the a$$...i dont think many folks can beat that one..the t/a i looked at was 504 a month..more than the car payment..so i settled for the v6 which looks like i may have to sell very soon and buy a older fourth gen outright so the title can be in my moms name and the insurance can be too....the insurance and the payment are taking a toll on me financially

I'm 21, have my own policy and have a decent record, two accidents and 1 ticket, with my 99 T/A with full coverage and a $500 deductable with State Farm I pay $200/month. It will go down eventually but I don't think thats to bad seeing as how I live in NJ.

if you want to risk having your ins. dropped and being prosecuted follow this suggestion.
nj rates are ridiculous.
im paying around $2300 a yr. full covg on my SS and 05 GTO.
