Stop reading magazines and get to the track.

Get the LS1. LT1's are a nightmare IMO.

spud you are misinformed. check the link in the FAQ about the ls1's true HP. everybody knows that the ls1 dyno's ~300rwhp bone ******* stock. show me an lt1 do that. thats what i thought...

where's the lt1's trapping 107-109 bone stock. and i dont mean the one with tx's air on a down hill track.

the only think the lt1 has on the ls1 is a cheaper aftermarket and sound (although subjective)

come to think of it though, why not just wait to find an ls1 z28, probably be cheaper than the ls1 ta too. This is the right time to start looking too, I found mine about this time last year. I was just looking on autotrader.com yesterday for the hell of it. Check www.autotrader.com, and www.cars.com. That's how I found exactly what I was looking for at a great price.

Check the price and condition. The SS will most likely be significantly cheaper. Buy what you want. Opinions are going to vary from person to person. I could give 2 ***** about this guy or that guys opinion about a car. Get what YOU want

depends on the price, can you show us some figures, with just a $1K the lt1 could be made as fast as the ls1, and its rarer. Depends on if you want to start out as an underdog and show some ppl up or just go with the crowd. I own an LT1 WS6 t/a and honestly have gotten to the point to where i like my front end better, but both are dam sexy. The LT1 ss's are also very sexy. Either way man you wont go wrong.

well, dont the lt1's have a tendancy to catch on fire? I watched my buddies Camaro catch on fire and burn to the ground just on normal driving... I thought there was somthing with the PCM that ignited a line or somthing like that...?

Wow, thanks for all of the opinions guys. I'm going this Thursday to check them out. Here's a picture of the SS from the ad. Here's the link.... http://www.trader.ca/powerpage/detai...9&adid=4951841

That's a great post!

After seeing that pic, I strongly suggest you don't get that car. It looks
like...well, it doesn't look good. I don't mean any disrespect by that. I'm
not sure what your financial status is. I've certainly driven worse. If you have
the means, do yourself a HUGE favor and buy a LS1. LT1's have issues
(optispark) and they don't respond to mods anywhere near as well as a LS1.

yeah, it appears you should buy ls1 after looking at the ad for the car.... looks like it may be a bit weathered....

just buy an ls1... you wont be disappointed...

For the price of that ss you can get an ls1(probably not a ws6 or ss, but who cares, who wants to pay more for a badge and hood?)I saw a 1998 Z28 with 65000 miles for 7 grand in auto trader, you just gotta look man, hold out for a deal, you'll be glad you did.

And LT1s aren't as bad as people make them out to be, but the LS1 is defintely better, don't kid yourself about that., But seriously, people make it sound like a stock 80s honda civic with a gummed up carburetor will beat an lt1 by 10 cars.

And one more thing LT1 camaros look alot better/meaner then the ls1s. LS1s camaros look like those ugly chryslers.

After seeing that ad, even though I am a die hard LT1 guy, thats way too pricey for that car in that condition with those miles.
