I bought my Formula a few months ago, and the first 2 tanks of gas, i used 87. The car ran like ****, to the point where I was worried I bought a f*cked up car. I have since used nothing but premium gas, and it runs awesome

as others said,"get another car if your worried about running higher octane gas" buy another car, it pisses me off to here you even ask that question. you have not ever owned a sports car/muslce car? the little extra you pay is worth it.

And with mods and tuning you can run less octane with no ill effects in performance.

First mistake I made was NOT tossing out the **** manifolds GM stuck on my car when it was new.

Or, you can run 93 and tune more aggressively, thus making even more power.

That all depends on what your mods are and where your timing has to be ie: nitrous.

If I were spraying, beleive me the lowest octane I'd consider using would be 91/93.

So why not tune more aggressively and run more octane? It just doesn't make sense to me. I don't see why anyone willing to spend money on mods that do nothing but improve the car's power and ETs would be reluctant to spend the extra $0.20 per gallon to jump from 87 to 93, thus allowing more aggressive tuning and even more power... Am I missing something?

I dunno, my car runs the same on both 89 and 93 the current tune in the car is off an MTI T1 cam. My car was running 12.14-12.20 last weekend in +1000 DA in upper 70 degrees trapping 115. And it has gone 11.9's @ 116-117 in cooler temps in the low 40's with the same octane.
