Bottom line you need to do what you think is best.I know I keep trying to talk you into a convertor.I guarantee your going to smile ear to ear after a convertor.Even with the 273's.I would go atleast with a 3200 to 3500.I chose a 3500 because most that go smaller end up going bigger later.Alot of people run 4000 + as well.I just went in the middle and I am quite pleased.You should go into the auto tranny section and do some reading,there's lots of great info.I'll say it again,I guarantee a convertor will make the biggest inprovement over gears or headers.If you werent so far away I'd even help put it in.
Fun Ls1,you have a 6 speed.You cant even compare your gearing with an auto's.Its apples and oranges.Most stalled A4's can keep up with or walk an M6 on freeway rolls depending on the size of the stall and mods done to the car.

Mod for mod, it's a rarity that an auto car will outrun a 6-speed car from a roll. The problem usually winds up being an extreme need for the !driver mod. As long as you downshift low enough to bring the RPMs up to *** kicking range, 6-speeds have a clear advantage due to the losses involved with automatic cars.

I totally agree,but most people cant drive.I have a few friends with 6 speeds that wonder why they get beat in rolls sometimes,then they say well I dropped it to 4th and at least with a stall an auto has a fighting chance.Instead of no chance.

I would go with lts because it will give you a nice hp boost and you wont lose as much gas millage with the lts. Also i have 2.73s and I dont plan on changing them when i want new gears im just gunna save up for a 9 inch so i dont shatter my brand new gears and have to buy a 9 inch any way.

Depends on what you want. If you run at the track often or are looking for more go from the hole then go with 4.10 gears. But if you just want to cruise around and have more power up top then go with the long-tubes. But its all up to you. Giood luck with your purchase!!!

headers are a definant, gears come after those. just figure if you get gears you will have to get it tuned so your MPH gauge wont be off and all that, with headers you can install them yourself in acouple hours and dont need a tune but would be a good idea to get the full potential outta your headers. i got headers, offroad Y, ported throttle body, and all the free mods basically and even with the 2.73s and my car being an auto she smokes them no problem now unlike when she was stock and would get a squeel and now get a smoking no traction screaming when it shifts into second and chirps the hell outta the tires.

Definatley get the headers.
Get a converter before gears. A torque converter is the single best mod there is for an A4. You are wasting the power your engine has to offer with the stock converter. Period. Don't waste money on gears to gain, what, 0.15 when you can get a converter and drop 0.5.

Ummm, what do you think getting an after market Converter does?
Clutches for 6 speed cost...200-300, Converter Cost hmmm 400-900
I think manuel cars, at first are quicker, when you sport a nice Vigilante or TCI, the bigger drivetrain percentage loss is no longer there.
I understand that a 6 speed "hits" good, but so does an A4 when adjusted right.
A4's can seriosly kick some ***, and they are easier on your rearend. Putting 4.10's on a stock rear with stickies is absolutly insane if your DD, the smaller thinner gears are doomed for failure, and its just a matter of time with some hard launches that you kiss that rearend guu buyyy!
I vote headers. Then Stall. Then Gears.

Mod for mod an M6 is more likely to win from a roll, but a stalled auto is more likely to win from a dig...especially at the track.
However a good, efficient converter with a high shift extension can give an otherwise equal M6 a pretty good run from a roll and an M6 with steep gears, proper suspension/tires and a strong clutch/rear end can launch hard enough to give the stalled auto a pretty good run at the track.....assuming it has the "driver mod".
