What can I get for ~$13,000?
Hi guys,
I will be starting my search for an F-Body pretty soon, and was wondering what kind of car I can get for about $13,000 USD. I am willing to travel pretty much anywhere North and West of Texas.
I have seen a lot of cars for sale on this board and quite a few other sites, but I am still unsure of what I can get. Prices seem to vary quite a lot.
My main requirement is less than 35,000 miles. I dont care much about the color (No white or purple though), and I am open to auto or M6. I don't want a convertable. The more options the better, but I'd take a low option car if the price is right.
I love the looks of the WS6's, but I just really want an LS1.
What kind of car can I get for about $13,000?
Do I need to spend that much to get a low mileage car?
If the mileage is my only concern how much should I be looking to spend? A range depending on years would help a lot.
Thanks guys!
Adam

udner 35k? that'll be hard I think. I bought my 01 SS jan 05 for 15k with 50k on the odometer. fully loaded. Finding a fbody with under 35k might be a lil hard...these cars are really good with mileage though.

ebay sucks. You want to personally inspect any car before you buy it. Especialy when it's a ballsy V8. And it's always nice to know who drove the car last, I bought mine bone stock from a 45 year old lady, that's ideal. It's always nice to know your car won't be ragged on.

friend has one
a friend of mine has one. It's either a 2000 or an 01. Already built for speed. Engine completley redone by furtel motor sport. He purchased the car new and it has only 4000 miles on it and he's askin 16,000 for it. Allen charged him 8000 for parts and labor. He has all the mods. cam headers and so on and on. garaged kept. still has new car smell. if interested i'll give you his number, and he can tell you more about the car. or you can contact futrell and ask him about larry's car

I'm not going to have time to travel for about a month, but thanks. I am just trying to figure out what I should be looking for.
There is this one https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicles-sale-lsx-powered-only/466457-sale-99-z28-6spd-loaded-27-000-miles.html for $12,700. People were saying that he should take a $13,000 offer. From what you guys are saying that car is worth more than that?
And thanks for all the great info guys.
While I am at it, does anyone know how I could drive a car from the States to the Canadian border? I'm not sure if you guys have an In-Transit system, but if you do does anyone know how it works when traveling through states?
Thanks,
Adam

There are deals out there
Look around all sources I found my 98 TA on ebay last week 62K auto for $8500. It was his wifes car and with three kids she only put 3700 miles on it since 6/03. Did take the risk of buying sight unseen and it is not flawless. However its pretty close and definately the best 8500 ive spent in a long time. Trailered home friday night changed some fluids saturday and made its initial trip to the track sunday. Never test drove it until the track probably lucky I didnt break something. First pass off the trailer was 13.39 @ 104.6 on dry rotted tires. Gotta love the Ls cars.
