Not sure I agree with that. 01's ad 02's have a better intake manifold for sure and do lack the EGR but it's easy enough to pull that on an earlier model. Earlier models have a slightly more agresive cam. 01's and 02's will generally cost more to buy though. A lot of folks with 02's think they are worth a lot more because it's the last year so watch for over inflated prices. I saw one guy on ebay selling an 02 Z with 56k for 25k. That's just insane.
I say find the car you like with the lowest mileage possible and the least amount of modifications. You may want a lot of mods but be careful cause a lot of highly modified cars got abused.
All that being said I have an 02 and have tried to remain nuetral in the "which car is the best year" threads.

The black one looks brand new almost
I think I'd take the red one over it seeing that it has less than half the miles of the black one though. And it's got a brand new motor too!

going to look at a 2000 SS 2nite that has 133k miles. its a decent price, true mileage is high, but it looks pretty clean... well see 2nite when i look at it.

Make sure trans shifts smooth, ask for clutch milage, brakes dont squeak and there is good pedal feel. lol and make sure it doesnt hit switches when you stop you know the poor mans hydraulics..worn out struts and shocks. See if has service records. make em check fluids too.

Miles don't matter but treatment and maintance does. Look at it like this he has either taken really good care of it because it's a modded car and he loves it or he has dogged the hell out of it because he is dumb and just likes speed. My car has 80,000 miles and has been slightly modded and so far seems like the guy was very good at maintaining and keeping it runnign well.
