With 2.73s the dead spot is different. It'll go back to 1st at up to about 37mph even with stock tuning. So the dead spot is more like 38-48mph with 2.73s.

Of course, the right TC can even make the worst spots seem good.

I'm not sure why folks who can't chirp/spin their tires are upset??

Spinning/chirping tires means less traction. Is it cool to sit there and burn your tires up while that Honda with a fart can exhaust blows your doors off?

I'm sorry but I would much rather put my traction on the ground then to leave my expensive tires smoldering on the street. I guess that's why some folks here claim to only get 3-4k miles per set of tires.

i've always wanted a brief chirp during a 1-2 shift. it won't affect your ET much at all if anything. it just impresses people - like myself

my tires chirp in the 2nd shift. at the track all the time. and every so often on the street. its not goo for the tranny but if you use the shift selector yourself and right before it shifts put it inbetween 1st and second. it for some reason will goof up the comp and it will shift while the rpm is rising. i did it once on accident and it barked my tires hard.

That would depend on the final drive ratio as well as the rest of the setup.

In a stock 2.73 auto 35-39mph is the real sweet spot as it'll kickdown to first and be right on the PEAK torque at about 4400rpm. A 3.23 car will only kick down to 2nd at that speed, hence the infamous "dead spot".

I wish mine didnt chirp, or squeel. I hit 2nd (if I stop spinning thru 1st) and traction problems start all over. I ran some LS1 TA with a mecham hood the other day and went sideways going into 2nd then proceeded to put some cars on him, scared the crap out of the dude lol.

My brother used to have a 00 TA and it would chirp 2nd gear on command and spin the tires in first gear on just about any road. This was with 3.42 gears, loudmouth, SLP lid, and a shift kit.

PS, I've been drinking 7 and 7 tonight and don't really like it, not that anyone here probably cares.

I wish I didn't spin the tires. This DD is getting DRs soon.
