Default help fast. please. new to LS1

a guy locally is slelling a bunch of stuff and i was wondering if it was a goo dprice. it seems liek a killer price. but i wanted to ask first. also. with all tha tis listed here. how much more money would i need to get it to be complete. here is the part of the ad. thanks for the help. also any clue as to what the tapping could be? help quick please, im sure it iwll sell quickyl and i think i talked to him first about it. i dont think the pics are working. so heres a link

A 99 stock ls1 shortblock assembled (66k miles) The block makes a tapping sound from 2000-3000 rpms, but no drop in power or oil pressure. This engine has been autoxed with about 16 times in the past two years and done about 15 seekonk speedway spectator drag laps. The block will probably be available by August or mid August.

stock ls1 heads, with stock springs, valves, no rockers, came off the block

NEW unused z06 springs and retainers (yellow) good for up to .580 lift (came off my new z06 heads)

99 stock cam
99 stock intake manifold
Other odds and ends like pulley, lifters, pushrods, egr, etc if you want them you can have them. They came off the block.

It's basically the whole ls1 minus a few parts. I'll package everything above together for $400 or best offer.

Volant induction system. Needs a cleaning and oiling and has a little ding on the right side of the filter. It's normally ~$280. You can have it for $100.

The tapping is kind of bothersome (IMO), how much does he want for it, you can get an assembled short block, for about $3k
The rest of the stuff looks OK, but if you're going to a swap into a 3rd gen, my advice to you is get a wrecked f body, and take all the parts from it and swap it into a 3rd gen, that way you have all the parts needed to do the swap, and you can sell off what you don't use to recoup some of the cost
If you want more extensive information on the 3rd gen swap (I'm assuming 3rd gen f body) then head on down to the conversions and hybrid section, and also look up www.thirdgen.org they have a section in their engine swap section just for ls1 swaps

For 400 that's a hard deal to pass up even if the shortblock needs a rebuild, for that price I'd go ahead and get it, and if the shortblock needs some work, there are a bunch of kits out there that will get your engine into good shape
As far as the swap, it's not that bad mechanically, but depending on your mechanical skill can be expensive, I've seen estimates of 7k-14k for a complete running ls1 to 3rd gen swap (of course the price does depend on how crazy you go with parts and upgrades)

yeah he said the noise has been there for about a yuear. not gettin worse. or better.

said maybe it could be a wrist pin? not sure. does that sound right?

im buying it. even if it needs a rebuild. 400$ is a sick price. heads go for that much alone
