no one is worried about breaking the engine. we all know the engines can take some punishment. it's the trannies and rears in these cars that scare me. when i run my car harder than normal, i never apologize to the motor. i apologize to the 10-bolt and the 4L60E.

i suppose if you run it occasionally it'll be fine, maybe once or twice a season. i just wouldn't make it a weekend ritual unless you're bill gates.

As long as you keep it to bolt ons and never run a really sticky tire like a drag radial or slick, beat the ***** off of it and you shouldn't have any problems. I used to beat the ***** off of my car like it was my job, chirping 2nd and 3rd gear almost everytime I shifted into them and never broke anything until I had over 400RWHP with a cam.

Spuds is right. Race that ************! You don't have to "***** it out" with strip only type mods(unless you want to), but definately take it to the track. It ain't no Hemi Cuda.

A nice 1/4 mile run is not beating on these cars. You don't have to powershift. I might suggest a nice aftermarket shifter. If you take your time and learn the hand postions, a 6 speed is safe at the track.

Drive it like it was built to be driven. As long as you're not doing redline drops at the track you shouldn't break anything. The first thing to go will probably be the rearend since it is an M6 car, but you can bust that doing anything.

Don't be disgusting like old people in C6 corvettes that slowly crawl up to 25mph and cruise in a 35mph zone.

i definietly agree with all these statements... i bought my camaro from my brother, he babied it and found it was too much car for him... now that I own it i DRIVE it the way it was built to be driven. the only thing slowing me down now is my slipping clutch.

The engine is not going to bust at the track....it's stock...and unless you are incredibly lean or something you are going to be fine. If anything the rear end would break first.

If you don't feel comfortable racing it, don't. In my opinion, the whole point of racing is to have fun and see what your car can do. If your uncomfortable taking it to the track, that gets rid of your fun...

Now, if you want to have a general idea what your car will run in the quarter, just get it dynoed. That's a good idea anyway, to make sure everything is running smoothly. With your dyno numbers, you can figure out what kind of times you should be able to run. This will be fun and you can even get a tune. You won't even be beating on the car.

my buddy and i pulled apart the engine out of his 01 b4c car, had 135k on it. bear in mind this was a b4c car for 110k, then he put 25k on it...nothing but total abuse its entire life. the cylinder walls still had crosshatching on them, even after 135k of abuse. these engines are durable as hell, don't be afraid to drive your car. we only took it apart because he is now putting it into a smaller car it ran fine before we pulled it, but couldn't justify spraying a 200 shot + g5x4 on a 135k motor that wasn't forged.

I would run it, at least occasionally. The only way you'll really tear up the motor is if you mis-shift and accidently go down a gear instead of up, right? I mean it's got a rev limiter, so you can't forget to shift and blow it up that way.

Other than that, the rear end has the POSSIBILITY to blow, but if it is stock, I wouldn't worry about that, unless you're on slicks maybe.

Drag racing will stress the body, but once won't kill it I don't think. That's an over-time deal, and like someone said, sub-frames and suspension mods will fix that.

I completely disagree. Dyno numbers can vary, but that's not the main point of my disagreement.

When I was making 321/331 (stock) my car ran 8.40s in the 1/8th all day long on 2.0 60fts. I have a friend that on the same dyno with some bolt-ons made 333/347, and only managed a 9.2 in the 1/8th These are both 6 speed cars BTW.

Why? Driver. I don't give two ***** what someone "says" there car should run, that's no better than bench racing. SHOW ME what it can do, THAT'S where it's at
