Incredible numbers claimed by a sponsor...
This comment was made by a supporting tuner of LS1tech in the f-body section of the corvetteforum.
He's also claiming that he put down 335 rwhp/353 rwtq STOCK.
This info is coming from a SPONSOR of this website!
Please fill me in, is he flat out lying, or did some later f-bodies come with complete LS6's, and dyno 335rwhp stock?
My car was built towards the end of production, so GM was putting LS6's into them, just so they didn't have to make more LS1's, from what I've been told. (I've also got the build sheets, of the whole assembly process. It tells on what day what parts were done. The car took 3 days, from starting point to the time it drove off the line.) It had an LS6 block, LS6 heads, and an LS6 cam.
My T/A stock - 335/353 rwhp/rwtq

They put an ls6 in just so they wouldnt have to make more ls1's??? They doesnt make sense to me, seeing they made more for the gto's. OR...maybe Im jealous cause I bought a 2000. Maybe thats why you here about a few 02's running 12.9, even heard of a 12.8 right out of the box.

Personally, I also do not beleive that 243 heads ever made it onto an F-body on the assembly line. I'd have to see proof from GM to beleive this.
The LS6 block I beleive, but not the heads and definitely not the cam.
GM was still putting LS1s into '04 GTOs and '03/'04 C5s, so why would they be running out of LS1 parts in '02?

Considering they still put the ls1's in the vette for 2 more years, I highly doubt they ran out, or did not want to make any ls1's. Actally I believe it was 20% of 02 cars had the ls6 block. They never came with ls6 cams. As far as heads, I have never heard of it through any reputable sorce. A local guy claimed the same thing. I went over and looked at his car and it had 241 heads. He told everyone the same story you heard about the ls6 engine. As far as the Dyno #'s you would be amazed how high the #'s can be without the correction factor and smoothing. Another board member likes to say his car pulled 350 something rwhp. I was at the Dyno day, before he played with the #'s. They were 320rwhp corrected. Still a strong car, but not 350 rwhp. He took the correction out of the graph and the smoothing, and got 353 rwhp.

we have to find the guy who bought the very last bird or camaro and ask him, i believe the guy with the last production bird is on this website. Surely if they ran out of ls1 blocks and heads, the guy would have 243 stock heads...maybe he'll chime in
