Default Crapy Hypertech's.....

I just bought a '99 M6 Camaro SS!! Very Nice, only 53,000 miles!! Anyways, the car unfortunatley has a Hypertech Program. I've read on this forum that Hypertech's suck and that many people aren't too fond of them. So far, the car is all stock except for gutted cats, SLP Loudmouth, MAF, SLP lid, and a K&N.

The seller gave me the Hypertech programer with the car, would I be better off putting the stock tunning back in the car?

Yup set it back to stock. I bought a hypertech like an idiot when i first got my car and it was actually casuing me to lose horsepower. I know because when i went to get my cam installed they dynoed it with the hypertech tune, then had me flash it to stock, then dynoed it again and it dynoed 5 rwhp higher with the stock tune. I dunno if mine was an isolated incident but it hurt my cars performance.

At least they gave you the tuner with the car...I used one for gears, shift firmness/points and fans - worked fine but I have an A4 and didn't use the tune.

The only 2 things I can possibly think of that the Hypercrap is good for, is using it to change gear ratios, and the low temp thermo.

Def not worth $300.00

Maybe $19.99

Yea, I heard that too, that the stock tunning is often better than the hypertechs.

Thanks for the input guys

For us A4 guys it's useful. I already had Edit for my '00 WS6, but I wanted something just to change shift points and fan temps on my '98 and didn't want to pay to add another VIN to my cable. I got my HPP3 for basically nothing.

yea they arent bad to remove your speed limiter, adjust for new tire sizes, fan temps, etc but their power prgramming is garbage. It was causing me to have false knock up top and was retarding my timing so i was losing some power.
