i crashed my t/a and im only 18, it was not due to stupidity but due to the lack of experience with drag radials in the rain. I dont dare mash the pedal with gas prices the way they are today, must be crazy man!

It was due to ignorance/lack of experience, hence the hating on us teens. I agree somewhat, I thought I had it under control when I did $2K damage to my TA. But honestly, It was a cheap lesson that I learned all things considered. No insurance filed, car fixed and sold for a total $1800 loss. Not bad for what I learned.

And it's people like me that get f'ed by these people. I'm 19, i've had 2 crotch rockets, and my SS. ( had a v6 camaro but idk if that is classified as a sports car ) I hate paying insurance.

Im 19 also and bought a V6 mainly because insurance rates, the V6 convt was a nice compromise. That being said ive never had a single ticket since I got my license. My friend however is 19 also and has totalled 3 cars. His first accident he had to be airlifted from the scene as well as the passengers. His 20 year old brother was killed by driving his sport bike into the back of a dumptruck. Since then he's had 19 moving violations and his license has been suspended. Its all matter if the person is responsible enough to handle a car with that much power and taught to respect it

WEll I have to go out on a limb here... I got my first Z28 when I was 19... I never got a ticket, never curbed it, not even scratched it. I learned tolerence for fast vehicals when I was very young. My father was a complete speed freak and tought me how to use the power with responsibility...

One guy I know on local forums is only 16 1/2, and he drives an 11 second SS everyday, races it every week, and he very mature behind the wheel. He grew up racing jr. dragsters and it shows...

its not so much the age, but its the maturaty, and the history of the driver...

I see I'm not the only teen with good driving responsibility, even though I dont have a v8 f-body. I got my 94 v6 camaro last year in Febuary (I'm 19 now), no tickets or accidents, I did get pulled over a couple times though. First time, I got a warning ticket because the license plate light was out. And the second time, was for doing 63mph in a 55 zone a couple miles from my house which is out in the country. He just gave me verbal warning saying theirs been complaints about people hauling *** down the road that night.

I know so many new drivers that I went to school with that have gotten in a accident or got a ticket, it seemed like I was the only good teen driver in town. But theirs a few I know that have stayed out of trouble like me.

Its kinda like holding a bartender responsible for a drunk person. The only person that has control over you is you.

I agree. After I learned the hard way ($1800 damage, NO insurance report, so dont flame me ) I got VERY good at limiting the right foot. Only 1 speed related ticked as well. Not on my record anymore.

Well i cant say i have the best record... I have had 2 wrecks both while i was 15/16 and it was from trying to take turns to fast for my tires. I didnt even hurt anyone else "except my cousin cuz on the first wreck he said he trusted me enough to not wear a seatbelt.... 20 minutes later we hit a ditch doing 60 mph" wasnt nothing bad just had to get like 4 stitches. But i now know FWD cars nose dive when u go to fast at a 80 degree turn. The second wreck was from me hitting the brakes while my tires where struggling to keep traction which locked my brakes and caused my rear end to come around. Both wrecks were in the same car which was a 94 dodge stealth which was my very first car/stick i have ever drove in my whole life. I have been through about 20 cars since i have been 15 not from wrecks just from losing intrest. I would say i now drive responsible enough to keep me and other people safe. When i get a new car i take it to a open parking lot and usually "act out" certian things. Like spinning out of control and getting it back on track. Of course i cant do everything that could suddenly happen but i get a good feel for the car so that i know how it may react under certain circumstances.

I've had my Formula since I was 17. I knew the kind of power the car had demanded respect and to be perfectly honest it scared me . I have never gotten a ticket or been in an accident (Although I've had a few close calls, but who hasn't) . But I'm still getting screwed on insurance, although with each birthday, it comes down just a little bit more. At 19 my premiums are 20 lower / mo than they were when I got it.

I sell the cars hoping thier parents set rules and limits. If my parents never gave me rules I would most likely be driving an escort and living in thier basement....

I turn 19 in two weeks and I have no tickets on my record, I have only been pulled over one time and it was for playing with my air ride at a STOP light when it was red lol ( i used to have an S-10 ) I wasnt used to my car and the power it had, having 50% tread left on DR in the rain wasnt a good idea either. I am a responsible driver, but just wasnt used to the conditions. Ignorance had nothing to do with it, 100% lack of experience and I admit to everybody...no fun

well guys i cant say much althaugh i have worked for all my cars except my first one a 84 s-10 but i did work and pay to restore it and put a cammed 305 in it no wrecks no tickets but i did flip it when the thrrottle caby got stuck on me flipped 3 times to be exact .and then had a s-10 i baught tricked it out and was laying out school one day and side swiped a poll trying to sneak out .but now that im older 22 and have had 2 trans am i have not wrecked neither of them knock on wood.i think that most young kids get them and it peer presure that causes them to wreck like hey burnout come on man oo wait that damn pos want .so they do it and not use to a car yet then bam wrecked . i guess its somthign you learn to deal with when you get a lil older

Im almost 19 (lol @me) and I have had a 1997 GTP which was my first car, then I took a step down and bought a saab (after the alky pump went on the GTP causing catastrophic engine failure) to daily drive, now Im on my camaro and possibly going to be registering my saturn sl2 for daily driving this winter. I regret kids like my friends who buy souped up cars and then go drive them really hard and expect the car to stick to the road like glue. My Buddy put 4k worth of damage into his ScionTC with uner 2k miles on it.. he had it for less than 3 weeks. He told me in those three weeks that it was the best handling car ever (coming from his parents dodge intrepid and chrysler 300, it MUST have been, lol) Some kids just overestimate their ability to drive.. they take too many uncalculated risks which is the cause of most accidents.

No offense against young guys but don't sell to another teenager. Most just want a fast car to show off. (Not sayin all, just most) Hell I have 2 sisters that wreck just about every car they own. My dad used to be a car salesman and wouldn't let my oldest sister get a nice car or a truck cause he knew she'd wreck it. He would show me everything on the lot and would let me pick what I wanted.. But he was pissed when I told him I bought a Chevy and not a Ford.. LOL
