HI im sort of a newbie this LS1 thing im working on doing a LS1 swap into my 89 nissan 240sx. The question i have is waht is the easiest way to make 400 wheel on say a 98-99 LS1. My goal is hight o mid 10 sec 1/4's with a race wieght of about 2600 pounds. I am looking for a realiable setup that i can beat up on everyonce in a while and still run pump gas with no problems. AFR heads, or ported stockers, or LS6 heads, and a mild cam, and an LS6 intake manifold. LT headers and a good catback or true dual system. get it tuned after and youll be around 400rwhp.

really though,in a light car like that i would port the **** out of your stock heads, mill them a little to get 11:1 and put a mean solid roller and a fast 90/90 with some long tubes and a good tune. but thats just me,your 240sx puttin 600 to the wheels.....oooohh yaaa

screw modding it at first. Get some drag oriented suspension and some slicks. Teh car is a 1000lbs lighter than a stock f body, you should be pretty damn close to a 10second pass if you can launch and drive pretty well.
what gear ratio is in the 240sx?

You can make 400rwhp with a cam and stock heads. I have the g5x3 and put down 402 through a 12 bolt on stock heads. Some guys are putting down more then that with just a cam. But like everyone else said LS1s love the juice

Ive always heard they like the juice, whats the biggeset shot they can take realibly stock block? Although im kinda agaisnt it being that if you dont have it you arent racing. whats the deal with the 5.3L heads comparo between those and stock, but seems as ill most likely do H/C.

your best bet would be just search around for that, but in the end it all comes down to what condition your motor is in. the miles on it, how it's been treated etc. there is actually a faq about it in the Nitrous Oxide section of the forum. here is the link to the faq

hope it helps.

definatly nitrous
but hey that isnt that much fun since you dont have it at your foot all the time
id go with bolt ons plus a cam for the cheaper route....if you can spend the money go fi

This is just me, don't take this to heart, I say work the suspension, drivetrain, fuel lines and exhaust issues etc... first. I almost guarantee, with tires that stick, weight of the car, a built rear end to handle 6k + RPM drops you will be in the 10s before you even touch the engine.
