don't do it. it screws with your A/F ratio and is regarded as a huge mistake. it's bad, bad, bad. the best MAF for our cars is the UNTOUCHED stock MAF. i can't urge you enough to LEAVE IT ALONE. don't port it, leave the screen on, DO NOT go aftermarket. the stock MAF can handle AT LEAST 500 horsepower. please, please, please, do not touch it. if you are interested in porting, port your throttle body. that is a good mod. but please, please, leave your MAF alone!

good luck with your descreened MAF. you see no gains for it and it could possibly lean you out a bit. either way, it's bad for your car.

in my experience, the MAF screen also acts like a secondary air filter. i've cleaned my MAF before and picked out little chunks of leaves. in your case, those chunks are in your engine.

WHY would you descreen your MAF? you have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

btw, not only is an aftermarket MAF bad bad bad, the SLP MAF is probably the worst one of them all

Yeah i know my old one had the screen and i got this one not knowing it had been descreend. It's not anything i would do either because i have also picked out poop out of my mass air screen.

i really don't think you gain anything by de-screening the stock maf. At least not enough to justify removing it because we all have seen grass or whatever in them before.

I have the slp maf (with screen) in mine. No problems. I figured bigger diameter+ more air is good.

My exhaust smells like... exhaust. I love that smell. MMMM

Oh, and as for this thread: DO NOT DE-SCREEN!

Although I de-screened my MAF and it was good for 1001 fwhp!!!!!!
De-screening your MAF is like putting racing stickers on your car.

If it doesn't have the screen and bobby the butterfly gets wrapped up around that hotwire and gets caked on its gonna be a lot of fun.

My Maf has been descreened and I have no problems.

What I wanna know is how is poop, leaves, grass and small children getting past your air filter ? Or are you kids not using an air filter ?

Whats worse here ? Not using an air filter or descreening your maf ?
