once you change them, you can get it "cleared" and next time the car will come on it will register that theres not a issue anymore...

any little scanner can clear a code....a tuning suite can delete them.....since youve fixed the problem all you need to do is clear it

Depending on what the specific code is, SES will probably go off by itself after 3 consecutive starts (ignition cycles) without a failure, but remain stored in "history" for an additional 40 cycles. If you're worried about it being on you can reset the PCM manually to clear it after installing new sensors, but not necessary if it fixes the problem. Also if you have the code you can look it up at www.gearchatter.com for your year and it'll tell you how many failures until it comes on/goes off/what happens when lit, etc.

Acutally, your SES light will not be on. The computer will continue to show that you had a problem in MEM but it will clear itself in about 100 miles. That is a built in safegaurd so that someone can't clear a problem when they pull up to the inspection station, and then drive off before the problem can resurface.

Either way, once you replace the O2 sensors (good deal on replacing both at the same time) the shop you take it to will clear it OR if you do it yourself, just about any autoshop can clear it. It becomes a question of whether or not they will be it is against many of their rules.

Not to worry. Be careful of screwing the threads if you do it yourself and good luck with the fronts, they are a bear!!

Yeah a guy at autozone told me that they dont normally or arent suppose to clear Oxygen sensor codes for some reason, but he did for me anyway since he knew me.

I guess its because allot of people just want the code cleared and think its fine after that so they keep driving on it and **** some **** up not too long after. They just don't want to be somehow responsible in any way for the problem get'n worse and then the blame being put on them somehow.

Reading this thread I was looking for a spacific fuse to pull to clear the code. I put cut outs on my car and when opend SES came on. Texas speed told me the rear 02s were deleted??? ( assuming that is the reaseon for SES) Any who on my Toyota I can just pull a certain fuse to clear codes. Is there one on my Z28 or do I have to disconnect the battery. Also tried disconecting negitive terminal yesterday and SES was still on. Is it true you have to have it disconected for a certain time 30 sec or 5 mins???

you say that you have a cut out and the rear o2s are deleted? do you have the simulators for the o2s or are they tuned out. another thing noticed you have long tubes and a cut out so you need to have about 18 inches of pipe after the o2s to read corectly

I only have a few inches the cut outs are directly on the headers. The rear 02 were supposedly removed in the computer no sims.
