Default LS1 Durability

I came across a 1999 Camaro that has all the things I want, 6 speed, Silver, Hardtop, cheap. However, it has over 140,000 miles. I'm curious, will the motor hold up much longer, and will the tranny be able to handle someone learning to drive stick on it? All input is welcome, because I really don't know if I should look into it. Thanks.

If the car was maintained it will be o.k.Check it out with a mechanic to make sure it wasn't very abused and check the way it shifts. The ls1 and t56 is a durable proven set-up.I got a ton of miles on mine and it is still like brand-new.

140K here and still runs like new. Doing a cam/LS6 Intake/ and LT's this winter. It'll handle it all just fine.

Did you notice the wheels, they look like IROC wheels. I didn't even think those would fit on 4th gens. Yeah I probably won't get it, just looking to upgrade from my v6 and I can actually afford that car, lol.

Go drive it before you say no to getting it. It may be nicer than you think. My car was driven 50K in the first 18 months of ownership. A lot of highway miles. The rest were racked up normally. My car rides as tight as a 75K car. I'd be worried about the wheels though. Slapping wheels like that on a 4th gen makes me think "theft recovery".

Definately check it out. If nothing seems shady about the car and it runs/shifts good, go for it, it's cheap. There's members here pushing 200k on their LS1's. If you don't drive stick, get a friend who does to drive it for you. I'd also make at least a couple hard runs on it to see how strong the motor is. Also, if there is an underlying trans problem, that probably where it will be revealed.
