Ordered a pair of SLP Loudmouth mufflers for the GTO - it's the wife's car, so I didn't want to go with a cat-back, remove the resonators, etc. because it's her daily driver, and she wanted some racket, but nothing obnoxious.

Anyhow, took the car to a respected exhaust shop I have used several times for work on my trucks, and they recommended not putting just the SLP mufflers on b/c of clearance issues. They said they would be happy to put em in, but that they "wouldn't do that crap if it was my car".

They recommend chopping everything from the resonators rearward, and replace with magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers with larger tailpipes.

Anyone have a GTO that just the mufflers were replaced on, and which one's did you use, recommend? I would like to stay as cheap as possible, because in a few years, when we're forced to get the wife a larger vehicle (should we have kiddos), I was planning on replacing the entire exhaust system with something that fits my taste (loud).
