I call my camaro an ls-1 or an ls-1 car because the engine is awsome the rest of the car is cheaply put together plastic. Even the tranny and rear end leave something to be desired when compared to the engine.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. I know when me and my friends are talking and one says to the other did you see that new Z28 in town...the other one says, no, lt1 or ls1? I think on that level you would justify the motor buy the body style, but not the body style by the motor. understand???

I use the terminology all the time talking about cars. I just use LS1/LT1 more as a reference as to what I'm talking about than an actual name. Other times I do use examples like early 4th gen, or late 4th gen. Other examples such as split bumpers. I just use them as a descriptive. No harm.

its funny about the vette owners....I met a guy who had a 98 vette and i mentioned the same thing(the TA and the vette both have the same engine) he kinda gave me this look like "LS1? ", and im like yeah its in your vette...and yet again another look....like his vette was powered by magical pixie dust, not a lowly "trans am" engine

Maybe the crazy looks he gave you were actually from "magical pixie dust."

"Yeah, it has a Vette motor in it."

"When did you swap that in there?"

"It came with it already in, [its special*]"(she said something like that but I dont remember her exact words, but she meant to inspire awe and make it seem as though the LS1 was not OEM normally).

"oh, cool. There is mine *points to black WS6*"

I hate ignorant LS1 equipped car owners

The plastic valve cover covers give it 40 horsepower and make it a much more aerodynamical engine.
