I can change spark plugs and wires on an LS1 f-body in about 20 minutes, without removing an alternator lol. LT1s suck to work on compared to LS1s, I've worked on quite a few of both. There is no comparison.

You can also swap a cam in an LS1 without removing the intake manifold. Try that on an LT1. Hell, even header swaps are a PITA on an LT1 compared to an LS1.

TRUST me when I saw the LS1 is 10x easier to work on. I disconnected and pulled my LS1 in the time it would take to do my plugs on my LT1.

LS1s had weak rod bolts, esp in 98, along with oil consumption and piston slap in certain cars. The opti can be an issue in LT1 cars, but there are aftermarket options available now to make it a one-and-done change. LT1 cars got stronger rods 95-97. LS1s got stronger rod bolts after 98. LT1 cars got a better starter in 97. LS1 engines are more expensive to rebuilt or have machine work done to them. The cars are otherwise the same from a reliability standpoint. The manual of the LT1 is slightly better, the autos, rears and suspensions are mostly the same. Performance is better from an LS1 stock, but either is just an air pump and can go fast. My LT1 beats up most LS1s in the area, and my next LSx will take down my current LT1 setup. There is more that is similar about these cars than different - you can go fast in either, with similar reliability - its as much about how you set up and take care of the car as what is moving it.
