make sure you check EVERYTHING on that thing...espically if there are any liens against the car, and if their are, make sure you talk to the financeing company and get a signed lein release the second you give him money!

I have cash. I thought I would send or transfer the funds to the bank. I'm not going to give a check to someone who owes money to the bank. I thought if I send the cash to the bank, the can split up the funds.
go to his bank with him with a certified cashiers check from your bank for 13.9k, do the deal right in front of the loan officer and right there at the bank, that way, you make sure you get the title. in most cases you can get it sent directly to you and he wont ever see it again. you and him will sign papers turning ownership over to you. the bank probably has the title there if he financed it through there. if that is the case, you will probably walk out with it that day.
yeah, id do your homework on this bank, maby give them a call and let them know the sitiuation, talk to your bank about the same. dont get screwed out of 14k. make sure the bank, the guy and the deal is legit. bankrupt people can get devious.

i work at a pretty large bank in Oklahoma, and trust me, if you want stuff done, you have to know what your talking about when you walk in there. and dont let a teller or somebody thats not an officer at the bank give you the run-around. just walk in there, throw your stuff on the table and be like i need the info! us bankers hate it, but unfortunately it DOES get the job done...so like bww said, dont be afraid to be invasive

Yeah, my 01 WS6 M6 ran me 12K cash and it took 2 months to get the title. The dealer (small used lot) kept making excuses. Finally they gave me ANOTHER temp-tag so I would be legal...cop saw me putting it on, bitched at me, then I showed him the paper-work and he said what the lot was doing to me was illegal/wrong (well, yes, but I used to work at a dealership and I know paperwork takes time sometimes).
Long story short, cop leaned on the dealership HEAVILY and I had title in hand next week.
Sounds like you lucked into a great deal to me! GOOD LUCK!! I am sure you will enjoy it. The T56 is WORLDS ahead of the TR3650 in your old mach.
