arent some of the problems caused by the rear housing flexing and that lets the stuff have too much give, thus leading to everthing breakin. this guy i ikno just put a stronger rear housing on his and is running some pretty high numbers

the flex, will have more effect on the gears teeth and the bearings....most people burn out there bearings, and chew down the pinions teeth....

The sheer load of a clutch dump is enuff to brake the teeth off a ten bolt gear. Due to the size of the gear contact patch. And as you go up in gear size the contact patch of the teeth get smaller thus weaker. The real problem with housing flex is that the axle tubes flex along with the center chunk. Which is hard on axles and wheel bearings and the flex in the center chunk is what causes carriers and bearings to fail. There are things that can be done to beef up the old 10 bolt.

1. Weld the axel tubes to the center chunk. This gets rid of most axle tube flex which puts a lot of load on the center case axels carrier and bearings.
2. Use a rear cover girdle. This will reinforce the bearing caps and keep the carrier from trying to walk around in the case.
3. Use the best fluid you can get like Redline or Royal Purple. Hey you would in your engine or transmission why not your rear.
4. Stay away from extremely had clutch dumps. The shock load is hard on everything from the u-joints to the lug nuts and everything in between.
5. Stay away from hard launches with a sticky tire. Tires are what give when you launch hard and if they dont something else like your ten bolt will.

Doesn't the DumbShit10Bolt come with 2 spot welds on the axle tube already?... (not in anyway say'n that its enough. Just curious if it did come with it from the factory.)

yes it does but from experience weldind the tubes to the chunk greatly increases the strength of the hole assembly and in my s-10 with a small block the welds on those broke and so did the 10 bolt but the 9 inch wont go anywhere

Slightly off topic but I got my rear end all finished up today. Apparently the guy from the yard where the rear end came off another 2000 didn't bother to pop the cover. Brought the housing with the 3rd member already inside and the guy at the suspention shop asked me..." how much did you pay for this?" ...I said "$200".... "well,...you lucked out then cuz I guess the guy at the yard didn't realize that theres a brand new Auburn Posi in there."........I was like "YES!!!" So I got a fresh housing unit and posi for 200 bucks! ... Yeeeeaaaa buddy!
