i'm located in southern california and according to the kragen employee by law only a mechanic can scan codes. so im guessuing its the same for all car store chains... should i just go to my dealer? how much does it cost to have it scanned?

Is your service engine light on? If the SES light on hasn't come on then there are probably no stored codes to be read. Don't spend your money checking for codes if the light isn't on. Did you change the fuel filter yet? Coming out of winter with all the temperature changes that cause condensation you might want to change it again. You say you did it 5000 miles ago but how long it time was it? They don't put ethanol in the gas you use do they? Water disolves in ethanol and will move it to your filter. Up here in OR the city of Portland has a winter blend gas mandated, which is why I don't buy gas there. An intermitent problem is probably not suspension related.

I'm also gonna dump "chevron techron concentrate plus fuel cleaner exclusive synthetic formula" in my car tomorrow. hopefuly this works also... or do you think having a mechanic clean and flush etc. my fuel system would be better?

I'm having the same exact issue in my 99' formula with the stuttering but I keep getting an intermittent MAF code. I'm actually taking it into the shop today to look for any vac. leaks along with a flurry of other problems. I'll let you know what comes up tonight.

Alright man. Looks like we were able to figure it out. I installed an aftermarket lid and it wasnt sealing properly and letting dirt into the intake. When we pulled off the lid, there was all kinds of stuff (leaves, dirt, etc.) stuck in the screen leading into the MAF. We suspect that the blockage was causing turbulence causing the A/F mixture to get messed up. Also, when we took apart the MAF, the whole intake and throttle body was all gummed up which was causing the hesitation(jerking, stuttering) when going through the gears. Cleaned up the butterfly valve so it wouldnt stick and she seems to be running a hella lot more smoothly. Hope you find your solution man.
