Default Cable around Alternator? Now with pictures

Well i thought i noticed something hanging under my car yesterday so i checked today and its a cable, and its no accident. Somewhere along the line the previous owner took a cable and hooked it to the hole of the engine cradle underneath in the middle and took the cable and put it through the alternator mount then secured it.

Now my car isnt stock, it has headers and a strut tower brace installed on it. Possible shift kit but other then that and free mods it doesnt have anything i know of.

The engine mount looked fine on that side and if it was the other side i dont know why the cable would be on this side (driver side) and the alternator brackets and everything checked out fine. I'm new to LS1's so maybe someone may have an explaination as to why?

I am going to see if i can get a picture. Without a lift its kind of tight under there but I will do my best since my explanationisnt the best.

make sure your alternator bracket isnt broken and the bolts that are holding it in are the right length that jackass might have replace a stock bolt with something shorter or broke a bracket an is using that cable to hold it in place...might even had used it to tow something...

I checked all the bolts and brackets and i couldnt even find a hair line crack but I didnt check the bolts for proper length.

Until then, will this be an issue passing track tech? I would really like to hit the track when it open next week instead of messing around with this. It has held this long, a couple runs at the track shouldnt kill it.

In the "old days " a lot of racers would chain or cable the moter to the frame, tie down the moter in case of moter mount breaking

I hate being the new owner of someones "project", trust me I have found some very ghetto wiring job's and "Mods" and ended up removing as many as I could.

Some people are just playing morons, and half asser's when it comes to their car's.
