Need more info....
What kind of transmission? How many miles on the car? Is the MAF clean, or dirty? Is your SES light on? Did you buy the car modified, have you modified it? If its modified, has it been tuned?
The more info you can provide, the more help we can provide.

Ok. It's a M6 with 60k on it. I'm not sure IF the MAF is clean or not But I will check tomorrow when I do the lid. The car that I bought it from was from the dealer. But from what I can tell the car only has a catback. B/c sometimes the SES light come on and off. For some weird reason.
As of the hesitation. It felt like the car LOST power during the acceleration sometimes. Not necessarily AT 2,500rpm. But sometimes when I go light on the throttle, The car would accelerate THEN hesitate and then it will slow the car down by itself(without me letting out the throttle nor pushing it more)?. It's really werid. I think it might be the throttle cable?. Could that be it?
Thank you very much. I am gonna try to clean the MAF tomorrow when I take the lid out. Any more help will be really appreciated.

mine does it sometimes. we scanned the codes and found nothing. so im still trying to figure it out. it sucks because when i'm at the service center it acts normal, but when i drive away it happens sometimes. so yes, i'm in a yucky situation. my service center said to bring her back in wen it happens more frequently. right now it's unpredictable.

Having similar problems here. It (02 WS6 w/headers/magnaflows, AIR removed) runs fine when the engine is cold, but when it heats to normal running temp, getting slow throttle response, and backfiring. Sitting at idle it's popping, something almost like predetonation. Threw it on the dyno last week, and it's running lean, but smells like it's running rich. Just wondered if it could be the 02 sensors? Appreciate any and all help

It could be your MAF. I bough a 2000 SS not too long ago with 65,000k on it and noticed that I had a hesitation at about 2,500 rpm so I ran EFI live on it a realized that my MAF was not reading the way it should. I replaced that MAF and problem solved. MAFs are expensive though

it could be you maf sensor, or it could be that you wires arent connected fully to the plug and or the connection above. pop your hood and press the little boot on the coil up and if you hear a click then maybe it wasnt on tight

I hear this problem all the freakin' time. It could be fuel filter, faulty maf, dirty maf, throttle cable, tune, spark plugs, plug wires, o2 sensors.....and I'm sure I have left something out.
In other words, just give her some tender love and care...all of these things should be checked relatively frequently anyways.

Ok guys, I did all the maint yesterday. My car ran like it was brand new!!!...
God.. I never thought that a tune up would do this much!. But my hesitation is still occurring. I changed everything you guys mentioned BUT the MAF and the 02 sensors.
Should I try to change those two?... They are not cheap.. that's the thing.

i have been having the same issues. i have replace my fuel filter and plugs, still there. I have the CEL light on for both cats efficiency, the guy who had the car before me said he recently replaced all of the o2 sensors. I have headers high flow cats and y-pipe on the way hopefully they will help the problem.

The MAF sensors on these cars are getting old now, and MANY of them have been exposed to over-oiled K&N type filters causing gunk build-up. It seems that more and more often I'm hearing about people with driveability issues such as this being resolved by cleaning/replacing the MAF.

If it happens during a shift, you may be looking at internal trans issues. But I wouldn't worry about that until you cover the basics. Like a complete tune up (filters/fluids/plugs/wires/injector cleaning), and clean your MAF. And if you have access to a scanner, watch your misfires, fuel trims, knock retard, O2 sensors, and check for pending codes.
