Default slack in throttle cable

Just wondering anyone have a good amount of slack in there throttle cable? I was detailing under the hood and for the hell of it pushed the throttle to full throttle and i noticed some slack in the line. Just wondering if this is common, supposed to be there etc?
Thanks in advance

also whats the diff between the 2 the one with the little elec box is for what?

Do you have traction control? I'm guessing yes, since you mentioned an "electric box". If so, you can adjust the cable, there's a buldge in the cable you can pop open and adjust the tightness.

you can adjust the slack by pulling up a clip on the throttle cable and sliding the housing..... kinda hard to explain, but when you see it you will know what to do, but this is where you adjust it

Trust,

Take a look at the pic posted above. There is a little buldge in the throttle cable (looks kind like a provision for an in-line fuse or something) not too far back from the throttle body. The center piece of the buldge just clips into place, and if you pull up on the center piece it will release the throttle cable and allow you to adjust it by sliding the cable tighter or looser.

It's really very simple once you get into it. Probably take less time to make the adjustment than it did to read my post.

Keep in mind that only the traction control cars have a cable adjustment feature, so if you don't have TCS or ASR then this won't work for you.

Hope that helps.

Your only option would be to shorten the cable.

I was in a guys car last night and his throttle cable has barely and slack and when he hit it, its WHOMP. Its like Im tired hopefully you can decipher this.

I know exactly what you mean superman. I have the same problem with my car. Its like I hit it and then theres a delay in response. It really annoying to drive like that. I gotta fix it soon. Ive only had the car for a few days but that delay is killing me.

Yep didnt work. Well fixed my cruise issues with me engaging cruise and it dropping 3 mph then going back up. All the slack is gone out of the cable. Still getting the lag. Going to try and seafoam it this weekend and hope that helps or fixes it all together.
