Default Which setup?

Just wondering which setup would be safer...more reliable...less maintence?

A N/A 425-450rwhp car with a 75-50 shot of nitrous.

or

A Turbo/Supercharged car with around 8psi or whatever it take to get to my hp goal.

BASICALLY my goal is 500rwhp and 550 MAX I want the the car that will be more reliable, less maintence and safer on the motor....PLEASE be honest.

nitrous was fun but i wish i had just saved that money for a supercharger/turbo. you make up for the price gap of the bottle / FI by having to refill the bottle all the time. and with a supercharger you will always have that power on demand.

It really comes down to how you're going to use the car and when you want the power. If it'll be at the track every week or you just want a 75 shot for when you need it, etc.

I have recently replaced my nitrous set-up with a D1SC. I love having the power at all times. But the nitrous cost me $1000 (all new parts and all the bells and whistles) vs. $8000 for the supercharger. The power is the same... the cost is not.

Nitrous with a progressive controller from NitroDave's. You can fully program your controller to bring in the nitrous slowly so it feels like a turbo, and you can program the fuel solenoid to kick in a split second before the nitrous solenoid so you have no lean spike. It can't get much safer as long as you take a couple of degrees of timing out.

I personally would never touch the juice. If I was to up grade to anything it would be a turbo setup only. I look a the juice like botox, it only last for so long before you have to do it all over again.

More reliable and safer would definitely be FI.

I think the heads/cam/nitrous set-up would be cheaper, more reliable and quicker at these power levels. 425rwhp is a pretty mild heads/cam set-up anymore and a 75shot is about zero stress if everything is set up correctly. A 10lb bottle will last a long time on a 75shot... There are a lot of misconceptions about the dangers of nitrous, when in actuality, it is no different from a blower/turbo if used correctly.
If you want max power all the time and cost is no object, FI is for you.

niether is safe or reliable if not tuned correctly...nitrous can cost more in the long run n20 isnt free...if you have the dollar and can tune well or know a good tuner go f.i.

Nitrous can be safe because you're not always stressing the engine with XXX RWHP because you're not always spraying. Fi can be safe too with a good tune, good FMIC and probably some meth injection at that power level. As a general concensus, reliability goes out the window at around the 480rwhp mark or even sooner. Get ready to replace those pistons.
