hey bud, take the valve covers off, and rockers and check your pushrods first, i made the mistake of taking this shop by my houses advice and buying th elifters and head gasket kit, well when i took it to my garage and took stuff apart, i found 2 bent pushrods, replaced all 16 with some new comp cams chrome moly and i was good to go, luckily i have a credit account with GM so i was able to get refunded for the head gasket kit, the lifters i bought from DOOFY off of ls1 tech, they are ls7 so if you do end up needing any i have a set of 16 brand new

My Hawk has the same noise. It just sounds like a lifter tick. It sounds the same all the time. Hot or cold. The engine runs smooth. At idle it has a little shimmy to it, but I have heard all of them do that. I have replaced the plugs/wires and cleaned the TB. It only has 29k miles on it. I am going to seafoam it. Actually it's GM's upper cylinder cleaner. I need to find out if you use it the same as seafoam.

Did that fix your problem? I had a terrible noise come out of no where and I took the pushrods out and none of them are bent and all the tips look good. But it sounds like a lifter is collapsed and leaving the rocker hanging there to bang around by itself. I'm dreading doing this but its going to have to be done. I'm wondering how much it cost you with the lifters, gaskets, new bolts, and everything else. hell i might as well pick up a cheap cam and thrown in there with a new oil pump.....

i got th elifters off this site for $100, head gasket kit came complete with everything from gm for like $300, pushrods were about $130, and then i did it myself so no labors costs, the shop that tried to rip me off is AutoMekanika in Spring Grove, Illinois, knowing i only had pushrod damage they wanted to replace lifters and everything, thanks to some guys on ls1 tech, i got my car out of there, still had to pay almost $400 for car sitting there and the little work they did do, but they wanted to charge me all parts included $1600.00.

Damn.....I have my heads torn off and all the lifters look the same. There was definately a lifter noise that mine was making. I am assuming that there is the way it performs and you cannot tell that it's messed up. That head gasket kit is expensive! What all did it come with?

Lifter noise sucks but I think every car I have now has it. Dodge ram had it since new. 180,000 mile civic has it even after adjustment. My eclipse had the head rebuilt and still has it. The camaro has it..... Just something I learned to deal with. Although on the Ram LC20 helped out quite a bit.
