Default help?

I have an almost completely stock 01 z28 and I have like right at $600. I'm itching to do something to do to it like now, I don't know where to start.

Cat-back and a lid would be the best first mods IMO and would be right around $600 or less depending on what exhaust you go for. I picked up a Magnaflow cat-back from marylandspeed for $388 shipped.

Some good beginner mods-in order would be:

1. Lid, and all the little free mods
2. Cat-back
3. Long tube headers
5. Stall- if an auto
6. Ported stock throttle body
7. Gears

Im sure i left a couple bolt-ons out, but you get the picture.

If you want to be evil, you can get a nice dry-nitrous kit for $600...

if u want some noise.... cat back and along with that get a lid. If you want some back road fun go with a strut tower brace and sub frame connectors that will only run you in the 200s depending on which brand you get but it makes a world of difference.

I believe you can get a Hooker catback from Thunder Racing for ~$338 shipped.

Ported TB: $40-$70 shipped depending on which options you choose
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/724149-ported-tb-sale-40-shipped.html

You can pick up a SLP lid on ebay for I believe $93 shipped

I would probably go for some subframe connectors with the remaining $$.

Don't waste money on a lid, they're mainly for looks anyway. Get exhaust (cut outs are nice cuz they're cheap and you will notice a hell of a difference) and then get yourself some LCA's and re-location brackets, SFC's, a torque arm and a panhard bar. Your car will hook like nothing else. Then when you get enough money get a stall and a shift kit and some gears (with a locker if you can) and you have a car thats still streetable but can do some damage at the track......by the way, my buddy has a 99 z and the mods I just gave is all he has, no headers or TB or anything and he runs a 12.3-12.4

I have a complete dry nitrous kit (and I do mean complete) for $500 (shipped). It is the best bang for the buck. Instant 100hp and 110+tq.

Koni SA's 4/3. Everytime I drive my car I can't believe how much better it is with the Koni's and there was nothing wrong with my stock ones to begin with. Just a very poor match to begin with.

Hmm that's the first time I've heard that. I certainly wouldn't have bought mine just for looks.

Thats complete bullshit. A lid is one of the best first mods you can do. And they have proven themselves over and over again on the dyno. And considering you can get a 5-10whp gain for less then $100 if you shop well, is a pretty damn good deal.

I think you are thinking about the smooth bellow.- Which is the accordian style piece that comes off the throttle body. Getting another bellow IS a complete waste, and most people only do that for looks.
